Crafty Secrets Thankful Feathers and a complete tutorial

Hi crafty friends! I'm happy to be in "the groove" and back in my big craft room after so many months, its good to get glue and glitter on my fingers! Last month I had to pass on the Crafty Secrets Linky party due to my heavy work schedule, and I may squabble from time to time about being too busy, but really I am ever grateful for having so much work and staying active!
In the spirit of the theme we are all following, I am Thankful for my life abundant in work, travel and friends! Life is what you make it, and I will be Thankful every day.

Let me show you how I made this chalk painted jar full of feathers to jot down thankful thoughts onto, it is really a peaceful and thought provoking project to work on.

Start with a clean jar and a bottle of chalk glass paint, I only have white, so I added a bit of terra cotta paint for a soft fall color.

Mix the paint, and apply a thin coat, and repeat or a medium coat and let dry completely.

Streaks are perfectly fine, this is a vintage rustic home decor piece! :)

I'm never as happy with a project without glitter as I am with it! Glass glitter seemed the perfect way to go with a harvest themed project.

Now lets add all those little embellishments and details! I started with Seasonal vintage and notes book and picked an adorable turkey, trimmed it up and coated it in clear coarse glitter.

Now I used my Silhouette to cut out a dozen varied shaped feathers in Crafty Secrets Earthy floral papers , I added more glass glitter to the tips leaving the rest of the feather clear to add a sentiment or thankful thought. A sweet idea for Thanksgiving day, ask guests and family to jot down a memory or a thankful feeling to tuck back in the jar or to take home and keep!

This is one of the truest and purest thankful feelings in my heart, I love a genuine smile almost more than anything! :)

I look forward to seeing what beautiful words these feathers inspire for my family, warm, and real, maybe even silly, but filled with thanks no doubt.

Be sure to visit the Crafty secrets blog and stop int each of the design team members blogs to see all of the Thankful inspired works of art we have for you this month, and as always join us and make a new project and enter your link on the Crafty secrets blog! Great idea, this is similar to something that I used to do. I would write down the date of special things and put them in a jar and read them on New Years~this would work too. Thanks for sharing your lovely jar and idea :)
