Hello there! Can you believe its summer, the sun is shining, the waters are warm and the days are longer and soooo inviting! Here at Crafty Secrets this month we are celebrating all things summer, from nature walks to tall glasses of lemonade! I tend to have several Summer birthdays, parties and guests staying over, so I decided to make a gift tag that can serve all of these purposes!
I have a quick tutorial for you that's all about layering texture, a beach themed tag offers opportunities to use many many textures and I have a few for you to try! lets get started!
Start by printing your favorite Crafty Secrets digital stamp images here I have used the Seaside set and colored them with Spectrum noir markers
I cut a tag with my Silhouette in a gold stripe and anchor background.
After coloring, I cut out my stamped shells and seahorse.
I gathered a few pretty and textural supplies to create a sandy beachy scene.
These may not be your automatic "go to" craft supplies to make sand, but trust me they will be at the end of this tutorial!
Mix a few drops of brown spray ink or reinkers into a spoonful of modeling cream, and mix well with a wood stick or a craft spatula.
a light sandy opalescent shade is the result! Imagine how many shades you can make!!!!
Apply to lower section of the tag, in a smooth but random layer.
Before the cream dries apply the pearlized fragments and lightly press in, shake off excess, allow some of the cream to show here and there.
Attach the seahorshe and spray with clear texture spray, it looks like water or a bumpy texture! Very fun and perfect for sealife!
Now add a few spots of glossy accents to the starfish and pour on a few silver microbeads!
Now add a few pearls and sequins, the layers of texture are really staring to create a shimmery and tactile feast for the eyes and touch!
Allow all those elements to dry completely before any further embellishing, add a twine bow and a sentiment sticker I have used one from SRM stickers here.
look at how amazing the cream covered with the fragments looks! It;s dreamy! The perfect backdrop for so many stamps!
You do not need to follow this month’s theme to play along, but it’s always fun if you do. You may use the free paper and image found on the Crafty Secrets blog, or dig into your Crafty Secrets goodies and create your own challenge. You MUST use Crafty Secrets products to eligible to win the prize.
Be sure to link to the Crafty Secrets Blog in your post, and let us know what Crafty Secrets product you are using in your project. One lucky player will be randomly selected to win a wonderful digital prize package.
The winner will be announced on the Crafty Secrets Blog on Wednesday, July 22nd.
Now go get your craft on!
