April Crafty Secrets Linky party with a full tutorial!

Welcome back creative friends to another Crafty secrets linky party and giveaway! This month we were challenged to create "anything spring" and as a bonus to use ribbon...which is super easy when working with our sponsor Really reasonable ribbons  beautiful new ribbon pack called Auqa and coral mix oooooh its so pretty!

Well let me show you how I made my layered card using the farm chicks digital stamp set.

Print the stamp of choice onto white cardstock and use an open area die to cut out the image, here I have used a spellbinders die and placed masking tape on the die to hold it in place (I don't have a magnetic plate so this is my assured way that it will stay put)  :)

In my cuttlebug I use the base plate A, one C plate and one B plate sandwiching paper and die between C and B to cut.

Using the next larger size die cut one shape in patterned paper.

Fill in desired areas with color, here I have used copic alcohol markers, pencils, paints, or any markers will work. I sart with the lightest shades and build color as I go allowing a little bit of time for the ink to dry. I wanted fresh spring like colors to fill the image but not to take over the gorgeous scene!

Use a sponge to add color to the edges, here I have used Bermuda bay from Stampin' Up!

To soften any patterned paper just swipe a light coat of white or cream paint, the pattern will still show but be a little muted and softer.

Ink the edges of this cut with Bermuda ink as well.

Add a thin layer of crackle accents and allow to dry, apply a second coat and allow to dry completely. If the cut has curled roll it to accent the cracks and flatten.  Continue to build your card adding a layer of cardstock in coral printed with chicken wire from the Farm chicks stamp set and swiped with white paint along the edges.

Add ribbon, flowers, and gold twine, two little eggs and 3 gold dots to finish the card. Easy as can be!

What a great card! And I love your tutorial. I never would have thought to use white paint to mute a patterned paper. Cool!

Love your card and tutorial. I have never used white paint to dull the colour/pattern on paper but I like it way better than overlaying vellum. You have to deal with attaching the vellum to not show through, your way to do it is much cleaner. Your colouring is expert.
