Snow Capped Mushrooms...and A WINNER

Happy Happy Friday! I'm Loving the card I have to share with you today for 2 reasons....#1. Because I made this for my youngest daughter who turned 16 yesterday. 16????? How  so much time traveled past me I will never know! The years have been a blur, I never expected to have a second child and I cherish her each and every day! ....oh got a little off topic there :) but you know we love to blabber about our kids!
#2.Because I tried a new technique and it turned out so cool!!!

As you can see I added a snowy like embellishment to the tops of the mushrooms, here is the trick, add a coating of liquid applique and BEFORE you heat set it, sprinkle some microbeads into the goo. Give it a good hit with your heat tool and watch the magic as the liquid applique rises and grabs onto the microbeads...ta da snow!!!! 45 seconds of effort for major wow~ gotta love that!

It is pretty dimensional, and in person it kind of lumpy and uneven, which is perfect for snow!

A felt snowflake and some silver embroidery thread add just the right amout of sophistication to balance the card. I must tell you that I was totally inspired by todays free for all challenge at splitcoast to use embossing folders...you have to use at least two to play along! I figured that was easy enough! The snow capped mushrooms are from the freshly Picked Cricut cartridge, and I used the branches and seeing spots folders in my cuttlebug.

Want to Know who won that awesome herringbone embossing folder???

There is a lot going on on this card but it works. You've really got it balanced. I love those cordoroy (sp?) buttons. Absolutely darling!

Very nice card, love the snow. Looks like you could also use that technique as coral for the coral reef. Thanks for sharing.
