Frighteningly Cute

My summer went by too quickly and I was admittedly reluctant to embrace fall, no amount of pumpkin spice was going to sway me-{yeah right} like a bag of chips once you break that seal you just can't stop yourself from indulging! I drank the {pumpkin spice} kool-aid and now I am already counting down the days until Trick or Treat!
I scrubbed my front porch all sparkling clean, a pristine canvas to fill in with big pots of mums and a couple of Pumpkins, a new wreath for the front door and a bristly door mat with a stark black raven to greet all who enter.

I even marched out to the shed and drug all the containers of Halloween decor in to be sorted through, a real job in today's humid and rainy Florida weather but as I mentioned I "needed" to get the fall rolling! I did a little bit of spook-i-fying the house, and decided to dig out my Halloween stash. I got that familiar twitch that only crafting can cure ;)

I turned to Netflix for a bit of macabre inspiration and set to work, my creations are far more fun than frightening though! I often watch animated shows in the background when I make, I listen more than I watch really.

I decided to only do black, white, and orange decor this year and my cards definitely follow the theme too, I sadly need to shop for more papers and embellishments {I say with total sarcasm} woot!!!I may be a little happy about this, an excuse to buy paper is rare around here!

I have no idea what collections to look for, do you have a favorite fall/ Halloween paper group this year? tell me all about it, help me spend my money!

Pumpkin Spice pancake gift set

I can't believe I haven't shared this project before now! I have given myself a daunting task, the clearing and cleaning up of 100's of photo files...not a feat for the weary I tell you! I have only just begun and already have found dozens of projects that I created for Cricut that although published have never been posted here!

I will try to post them all in the weeks ahead, they may be projects from days gone by, but most of them are still cute enough to inspire! Like this one, a sweet fall gift set perfect for giving house guests, hostesses, and anyone with a fall birthday!

Pumpkin spice is taking over the world already, no point in fighting it! why not yield to it's delicious powers and whip up a few of these to give! :)

Originally posted on The official Cricut blog (a long time ago) the overall idea is timeless, a patterned paper pumpkin on a gift bag/box filled with pancake mix and a pretty tag secured to real maple syrup (infused with pumpkin spice of course)

There you have it, dimensional, patterned, fall and sweet as can be!

Now Its time for me to get back to all of those files! As a craft blogger I have thousands and thousands of project photos that I need to sort through, some bring back great memories and some I had totally forgotten about!

Do you ever do that? Look back through pictures and exclaim "oh I forgot about that one! " yep I'll be doing that all day! ;)

Pig-Nic party on the porch

PIG-NIC PARTY
Each summer we have a party we call the pig-nic it usually stars pulled pork and bacon and all manor of maple infused deliciousness. This is a time for us to relax, rewind, and recharge before we head off to a long stretch of work.
with Labor day weekend in full swing I thought I would share some of our festivities, who knows you might be inclined to use some of them for your next gathering!

 Favors are always a given at any party I put on, and this one hav two take home treats! These jars found at Hobby Lobby were filled with cookies and cream candies paired with piggy gummies. I made the tags using my Silhouette to print and cut my custom design {have I mentioned how much every crafty person needs one of these?}

The other take home was bottles of pink nail polish for the ladies "piggies" somehow I didn't manage to take any photos of my pretty pink collection {perhaps too many cocktails too soon!}???  :)

I ordered 6 little walking squeaking piggies from Amazon to have pig races { this was by far the most hilarious part of our event!} we lined them up and tied different color ribbons around their necks by way of identification, we held a yardstick in front of them and let them go... total silliness as each contender cheered on his mechanical champion! Prizes were issued like this glittered pig ornament.

we had pulled pork, gourmet hot dogs, a pickle bar, cole slaw, and chocolate bacon, and yes candied maple bacon too!

We had a maple cocktail complete with a mini waffle and a piece of bacon as a stir stick, and it was delicious!

We finished up with maple cupcakes topped with crisp bacon, we danced, we palyed corn hole, we told stories and pigged out! It is one of my favorite days of the year, I can't wait to do it all again next summer.

The food and fun are certainly wonderful, but more than this is sharing laughter, memories and quality time with friends and family, the cornerstone of my existence. Nothing matters as much as seeing someone I love smile... that and making them say" I'm a little piggy" LOL

Brewing up fun

I love creating, all types of  making-doing- and creating...the time to do so seems to slip away from me more and more. To paint, and fiddle with techniques to have the time to brew up some fun!!!
I made this card for no special reason other than to enjoy the process, and get all geared up for the spooky season to come! I used the Crafty secrets Halloween scraps printables  to embellish the card along with a few leftover Silhouette cuts, and a scrumptiously bright orange tag!

I attempted a spooky dark flower by way of dying a white ribbon gray and adding black glitter...but its less spooky and more "grungy" than I planned! LOL

And I added a wispy bit of paint to my embossed layer with a paintbrush and a light hand, I must say it was very relaxing and quite fun!

Even if you are short on time, try to find time for yourself and to brew up your own kind of fun!
