Patterned Vinyl monogram

There are some things that never ever go out of style and although they are modified with each generation, monograms have true staying power! Patterned vinyl is a game changer for the classic monogram and adds a touch of whimsy or playful sophistication!
I have a project up on the SRM Blog today wanna see?

I picked up a simple (functional but yawn..boring) lap desk for reading, doodling, coloring, and if I'm to be honest probably a bit of snacking too! To give it some personality I added a layered a Silhouette cut monogram, easy quick and stunning!

I used mint Vinyl for the background, and grey chevron for the focal portion of the design. Use patterned vinyl for bold gorgeous monograms on any surface you want to personalize, or like me get a head start on your Christmas list and add a special touch to your gifts!

Hope you try a layered monogram for yourself they are suoer fun!

Mini album coupon book

I'm not one to make tons of Mini albums, but when I do I usually have a great time, its fun to create multiple pages using the same color family and design style to tell a complete "story" This is a coupon book for a grandparent, its filled with sweet time sharing activity coupons.

I made this one for Cricut magazine a while back and wanted to share it with you! If you have a hard to buy for person in your life {don't we all have that one person that is just so difficult to shop for?} a coupon book may be a perfect way to give a great gift without driving all over town just to come up empty!! Of course I'm the first to admit I will still drive all over looking for that special "something" have an iced coffee {or two} drive park, walk, search the aisles, drive, park, repeat and then get smart and make a gift card package or coupon book AFTER I've gone everywhere!!!!

Teacher thank you

As we near the new school year I thought I would share a gift card holder I made for Cricut magazine a while back. Its a card, with an insert inside for a gift card! I know lots of teachers and they all love getting cards!

I mixed the papers and used these cute scrabble letters to spell out thank you, the colors are perfect for the edge of fall, and the addition of wood grain is my favorite part! :)

I know I am getting ramped up for the grand day that my sweet girl starts college in a few weeks, (eeeeeekkkkk I'm so excited) and my nephews are starting kindergarten!!! What a great year this will be!
school is such a big part of our lives and our teachers do so much to shape our independent thinking, our love of education, and they deserve our thanks each and every day!

happy creating! XOXO Shantaie

Layers of pastel Birthday Cake

Last week I made an extra Birthday card to keep on hand for those moments when you get caught short! You know the moment when your'e invited to lunch with a friend and it's her birthday or you let the calendar slide by too quickly and "ding" it's a party for one of your daughters friends {or is this just my crazy life?} :)

I started with birthday papers and stamped the little cake from the Jane's doodles eat cake stamp set and trimmed it out. The background is water colored and layered with a glassine bag for a frosty look.

I colored the stamped image with spectrum noir markers, and folded a sweet little doily in half and stamped a greeting and embossed it in gold for a pop of luxury! Sooooo pretty! The edges of the card are dressed up with sticker stitches, and all tied up with a pink chevron bow!

Now to get invited to a birthday lunch! ;)

Have a crafty day! XOXO Shantaie

Crafty Secrets mixed media linky party and a full tutorial

Hey welcome to another Crafty secrets linky party, this month the challenge is to create something unique, useful, or just beautiful employing multiple types of supplies. Its fun to push yourself out of your comfort zone and maybe try something new or even better to dust off a stash of crafty objects that have been waiting to shine!  For this project I used Crafty secrets springtime love butterfly digital stamp.

Lets get right into the tutorial, there are lots of pictures but they are easy step by step instructions!

Most any type of paint will work.

A shimmery paint of any type, I just love glimmer mist!!!

I used the trace and offset functions on my Silhouette to create a cut file from the hardware stamp set.

I originally planned to use the butterfly to a card or a scrapbook page, but in the end I decided to create a sweet little frame made from chipboard.

This looks so pretty in my bedroom, I'm glad I challenged myself to play around with mixed media to create something totally new and totally unique! printing onto book paper may be a new obsession!!!
