Happy Birthday Susan Blog hop

Happiest of Birthdays Susan!!
Susan is the sweetest, most generous, and kind woman in all my crafty encounters over the years! I'm so excited to be part of this "hopping" blog party in her honor! Each member of the design team has a Birthday project for her big day, so follow along with us and celebrate in SRM style!

For you Susan!

I made a tall card in shades of yellow and teal with lots {and lots} of embellishments plenty of SRM goodies and layers beyond delicate layers! The top layer is embossed with dots and sanded to lighten the color a bit, lets talk about all those SRM touches that I love so much!

A darling bow made from SRM Vintage floral ribbon is anchored by a paper flower covered Doily tucked behind the pom pom trim is a ticket with a sweet greeting cut from a birthday border sticker. The lace trim is gathered and fanned out in a half circle, so pretty!

At the top and bottom of the card are one of my favorites, sticker stitches!  A fancy sticker sentiment is a bold and gorgeous finishing touch to the bottom of the card as well as the inside!

Happy Birthday Susan, make a wish and make it come true! XOXO Shantaie

Making personalized Birthday cards for special people and special occasions is by far the best part of being a paper crafter! My cousin is in love with mermaids, so for her birthday I sent a care package fit for a goddess of the sea! I made this clean and simple card with lots of shimmery touches to accompany her package!

I cut the mermaid with my Silhouette and trimmed it to just the tail. Its rare that I don't use tons of layers, but oh how much those little sparkles make up for it!!!

It's been such a warm sunny summer, so often I have enjoyed time outside, but I do miss the sea! It will be time to head back to Florida soon, and the salty waves will be calling my name!

Until that day, I will be enjoying the mountains, fresh air, green everything, and lovely lakes of New York. Happy Birthday Lisa, swim, sun, and salted margarita's are my wishes for you!

Sunny Hello

Better late than never? I was up on the SRM blog a few days ago, and like a cotton headed ninny muggins I missed posting my card on time! Some days I am a force to be reckoned with, a taskmaster like no other...some days I am mastered by the tasks! LOL

I used delicious lace ribbon from SRM to create a layer behind the stamped image, the result is delicate and soft, and beautifully romantic!

I colored the stamped flower with spectrum noir markers and tied it all up with gold shimmer twine. for all of the details hop on over to the original post on the SRM blog!

Now back to all those tasks! ;)

Retro Puppy

There is something about technicolor retro puppies that I find simply adorable ! I colored this digital doggie from the Crafty secrets Little dog stamp set  with spectrum noir markers in shades of mint and blue, with highlights of pink. So very kitsch and cute right? {love}

I can totally see a little ceramic dog sitting on the dressing table of a teen aged girl in the early 50's!!! I glittered the die cut bones and added a pink hue to the greeting for added girly-ness! :)

The summer is slipping by so quickly for me, so much to do and so much I want to do! Sneaking in a little crafty time whenever I can is always a bonus! Being able to print digital stamps from Crafty secrets is such a space and time saver here in my summer cottage, I love that!

Enjoy every day, enjoy the summer, and most of all have fun making all the pretty things you do! XOXO Shantaie

Summertime Crafty Secrets tag and a full tutorial

Hello there! Can you believe its summer, the sun is shining, the waters are warm and the days are longer and soooo inviting! Here at Crafty Secrets this month we are celebrating all things summer, from nature walks to tall glasses of lemonade! I tend to have several Summer birthdays, parties and guests staying over, so I decided to make a gift tag that can serve all of these purposes!

I have a quick tutorial for you that's all about layering texture, a beach themed tag offers opportunities to use many many textures and I have a few for you to try! lets get started!

Start by printing your favorite Crafty Secrets digital stamp images here I have used the  Seaside set   and colored them with Spectrum noir markers

I cut a tag with  my Silhouette in a gold stripe and anchor background.

After coloring, I cut out my stamped shells and seahorse.

I gathered a few pretty and textural supplies to create a sandy beachy scene.

These may not be your automatic "go to" craft supplies to make sand, but trust me they will be at the end of this tutorial!

Mix a few drops of brown spray ink or reinkers into a spoonful of modeling cream, and mix well with a wood stick or a craft spatula.

a light sandy opalescent shade is the result! Imagine how many shades you can make!!!!

Apply to lower section of the tag, in a smooth but random layer.

Before the cream dries apply the pearlized fragments and lightly press in, shake off excess, allow some of the cream to show here and there.

Attach the seahorshe and spray with clear texture spray, it looks like water or a bumpy texture! Very fun and perfect for sealife!

Now add a few spots of glossy accents to the starfish and pour on a few silver microbeads!

Now add a few pearls and sequins, the layers of texture are really staring to create a shimmery and tactile feast for the eyes and touch!

Allow all those elements to dry completely before any further embellishing, add a twine bow and a sentiment sticker I have used one from SRM stickers here.

look at how amazing the cream covered with the fragments looks! It;s dreamy! The perfect backdrop for so many stamps!

4th of July gifts and a Slider card

I'm on my way out the door but wanted to post these really quick! the Photos are way less than fabulous, but you may be able to use a few of these ideas for some little gifts !

I filled an SRM clear pillow box with red white and blue nail colors for my daughter {and maybe she will share!} *wink*

The box is simply lined with patterned paper and wrapped with ribbon, and embellished with SRM border stickers! {so cute}

I made 4 slider cards using my Silhouette and a template I found here , they are embellished with tons of SRM goodies! And best of all I added a Starbucks giftcard to each one, as that is our favorite "rocket fuel"

The firework slides up and its so adorable!!!!!!

I also did a pancake and syrup set with pretty red white and blue hand towels for a friend..,.however those photos were so bad I can only show you the bow! The idea is perfect for a hostess or for a guest!

Happy Happy Independance day yall!

Love, Shantaie

3 Cheers for the Red, White and Blue

Hi Ya! Just popping in with a quick post and a whimsical and patriotic card that is all about fun!
I stamped the cups with Verves newest stamp set called Get Together  and colored them with Spectrum noir markers in shades of Um- Red, white and blue :)

Of course a bit of sparkle is necessary for a card that commemorates the most shimmery night of the year { okay maybe New years has more fireworks, but it;s close} in any case glitter and sequins were a must!

3 Cheers for the freedoms we enjoy and love, 3 cheers for a day of family and fun times, and 3 cheers for all good things!

XOXO Shantaie
