Love is Sweet Campfire

I think I am never going to tire of Valentines day projects..I hope you feel the same way!

Today's card is an extension of my person Valentine theme for 2015 "wood you be mine"

I was so thrilled when SRM announced that they would be adding clear stamps to their line up of delicious paper crafting supplies. This little campfire is from the adorable Happy Camper stamp set by Jane's Doodles. I colored it with copics and added a teeny little flocked heart over the marshmallow on a stick. I added a sentiment and a few little hearts from the SRM Valentine We've got your border

The stamped heart is all nestled on a wood grain background cut with the Silhouette  and all wrapped with a twine and seam binding bow. My favorite part might just be that corduroy button and those two matches!

Happy creating to you! XOXO ~Shantaie

SRM collage background

You know those ides that you've been kicking around for a bit and and just never quite get around to really doing? Well this card is the result of me finally saying "come what may I'm going to give it a shot" I figured it would either be super cool or it would look like a 4 year old chimpanzee made it!

I am not too proud to admit that there are occasions that a chimpanzee could quite outdo my artistic talents!

That  ahem a topic for another time, because I just love how this sticker collage background turned out!
What did I do you ask?  I picked a few sheets of my favorite SRM clear stickers that all had the general theme of love or Valentines and placed assorted sizes, fonts and phrases across the entire background of light color patterned paper. The end result is a custom and bold graphic background that steals you attention at first sight! {LOVE}

I added a stamped shape layered over a SRM doily and dressed it with a tattered heart The color combo  of coral, oat, and cloud is also a little inventive for a Valentines day card, but I think we should remember that love comes in every color!

Okay kiddies, I'm off to enjoy some much needed girl time, talk to you soon! XOXO Shantaie

Wood You?

Hey its me again! I tossed around a couple of ideas for my Valentine theme this year and my top two favorite were Coffee and Chocolate or Wood you be mine. Unable to definitively choose I merged them! {this is what creative people do when they can't make decisions} :)

I picked up these super cute and reusable {AKA functional} white coffee cups at Starbucks and tucked a gift card inside each one. I made sweet little sleeves from a wood grain patterned paper, and slipped them onto the cups.

Next I added a trim of ruffled crepe and a bow of gold specialty yarn. The hearts are wood and were stamped with {of course} a wood grain background. The tags were created with the Silhouette, I printed and cut them and even made a few extras for a future project! :)

I'm never done with Valentines {or any other Holiday} project done so early! I almost broke my arm patting myself on the back when I finished! haha

On Golden Wings

Hi paper lovers! As I mentioned in my last few posts I have been dusting off some of my neglected crafty supplies and giving them some attention. I have owned several packages of transfer foil for maybe 3 years? How many times have I used them? ONCE, how sad is that?! Especially sad because its so beautiful!

My card showcases a sweet cherub digital stamp from Crafty Secrets Be My Valentine collection colored with copics and lightly embellished with gold foil. Golden arrows and gilded wings seem perfectly lovely for this cute cupid.

I like clusters of embellishments and this card is piled high with confection like sweetness!

Adding foil is really quite simple, add a touch of adhesive to the areas you want to foil and let liquid glues dry for 30 minutes or until it is tacky but not wet. Lay the foil shiny side up and rub over the area to be foiled. Peel the foil away and instant metallic love!

I'm  going to try to get more creating done today, wish me luck I have been in a creative vacuum this past week!

Nested Strawberries

Hey crafty people in the house!! I have been trying some new things in the craft room again! I started with a sweet strawberry image from the Crafty secrets Retro Kitchen Digital kit. I printed the image 6 times (I only used four) on a natural speckled cardstock for a vintage feel.

The fun part was cutting each image with a nested shape, I chose a nestabilities set that has a large opening to allow most of the image to be seen. I cut each one with the next size down lining the die in the center.

I inked the edges of each cut with momento cocoa ink and layered them on patterned and sparkly red papers, once the first layer of the image was added, each additional layer was popped up with foam tape, creating a telescoping frame. {I know!} its so awesome!! I really love the end result!

I embellished the card with ribbon, cotton string, and a paper flower decked out with die cut leaves that were left over from a previous project...I almost always save my Silhouette "reject" cuts to use at a later time. I have a drawer that I toss them in and revisit it when I need a little tag or a shape! Can you believe I didn't add one granule of glitter? It took restraint people really it did. I had to walk away from the card until the urge was suppressed by chocolate and diet coke. (true.every word of it)

In addition to having a little fun crafty experimenting, I have also been reading. I mean reading like words are water to a dust covered man stranded in the desert!  I never read Crime and punishment for school, so I'm tackling it now and so far I'm enjoying it. Downtown Abbey will have to wait a little longer! :)

what are you reading and or watching in between crafts?

Hearts be Mine

With the new year I decided to challenge myself to use my craft supplies in new ways or to try new things with the loads of things I have that get too little attention.

For today's card I used a digital stamp from Crafty Secrets Deer Christmas collection that was designed for the Holidays in a new way, I wanted to turn it into a Valentine. By adding a glittered heart and an SRM Valentine sticker the image is transformed! I also used washi tape, a product that I love the idea of but rarely remember to reach for!

I added a splash of distress embossing powder and did the reverse embossing trick like this one and added a thick coat of coarse clear glitter to her tutu! The stamp was colored with copics and cut with an oval nestabilities in my cuttlebug, and popped up with foam tape.

I watched my first episode of Downtown Abbey while coloring the little darling in...I am not yet hooked  {not even close}I think I will have to give it a few more episodes before I make a call as to whether I like it or not. I did however enjoy the process of coloring anyways! :)

Pinkosaurus Invitations

Recently I was asked to make 22 dinosaur invitations, {like I could say no} I do love dinosaurs...and parties! The Mommasaurus sent me a cute invite she found on Pinterest and I adapted it to fit a more girly girl style!

We talked about glitter....{like you're surprised I considered a glittery dinosaur}  but decided it might be better to sparkle in a more updated and unexpected way! I mean come on...sequin spots? yeah they're pretty fantastic!!!  The box open to reveal the actual invite info and a few dinosaur candy eggs .

I know adorable! I cut the boxes at 2.25" square with the Silhouette and the bitty dinosaurs are just under 1" I have to tell you a whole sheet of baby pink dino cuts was cute overload!

I can't make it to the party, but I bet it will be a blast. I love that I can help out a friend, be part of a little girls birthday memories, and do something that I may not have ever done otherwise...its win win!

XOXO happy creating, Shantaie

Dreamland Crafty Secrets Linky Pajama party!

Welcome to the January Crafty Secrets linky party! What better way to start of the year than with a sweet new digital Stamp collection and a virtual pajama party? I think this is the most fun idea ever! I wish we all could have a movie and popcorn date or paint our nails as part of our party, wouldn't that be fun? The next best thing? Play along and join the linky party!

I tried a few  several painting techniques on this image, and as experiments can go, mine taught me what not to do! I ended up with a collection of fun ideas that can be combined like mine or used individually.

I started by printing the image on a pale notebook patterned cardstock paper {looks cool huh?} and cut the image with a doily shaped nestabilities die. I love the delicate shape it gives the stamp!

I colored the stamp with a mix of Faber castell gelatos and prisma pencils. I blended the colors and let them dry, then colored the flowers with a white gel pen. A gold viva pearl pen was used to add the centers to the flowers {but they ended up looking like fried eggs} Haha! Sooooooo I added pink glitter to the paint, and spritzed the entire image with both gold and marshmallow glimmer mist. {whew} I know a lot of different things going on here, and the look is crazy sparkly without being glittery its a soft dreamy glow! :)

Now its your turn to hop into your PJ's and visit the Crafty Secrets blog, and check out all of the amazing projects the design team has put together for you! Have fun!

    Hey I made that.

    I thought I would share a few of my published projects from Cricut magazine back a long time ago, just for fun. I love revisiting my cards and layouts to see how I've grown or changed as an artist. Sometimes I see them with "fresh eyes" and either love them or cringe!!! Do you do that? {I still like this sparkly winter card}

Cricut cut vinyl on a frame, this still hangs in my daughters room, the dimension is really fun both to create and to look at!

Layouts are still not my absolute strongest skill, talent, or love but I hit a home run from time to time.

I never liked this one...... I had a cute vision in my mind, but just missed the mark on executing the idea. I still don't like it. Maybe I will retry it! :)

Be sure to stop back in tomorrow for the Jan. Crafty secrets linky party!
