Alice in Winter Wonderland Tags

I will start by telling you how each year I plan a fun and {usually crazy} theme for our Christmas season, last year was Grinchmas in whooville, that was a lot of fun and may be hard to top! This year we decided to try "Alice in winter wonderland" as our theme. Not so much the "down the rabbit hole" Alice as it is a woodsy wintery wonderland. I wanted to make a set of package tags to give as a gift to my daughter within our theme. I knew an embossed kraft bag would be the most perfect way to present them to her! Check out The SRM blog for all the details!

Happy creating!

Merry and Bright Reverse embossing splatter.

I managed to squeeze in a little grown up coloring time in between wrapping gifts, and blowing my nose! { I caught the seasonal yuck} I have always loved coloring, but the artistic version of blending markers into an image is far more satisfying than crayons and grainy paper coloring books could ever be!

 I started with a black and white digital stamp from the new Deer Christmas collection by Crafty secrets, and layered on the colors wrapping a gift during drying time ;) I used all copics except for the darkest shade of pink on the bow, for that I used a prisma pencil.

The shading took some doing..and patience {not my strongest attribute folks} but the real magic is the spatter of embossing powder, it is sprinkled directly on the stamp {this was a little nerve racking} so much time coloring!!! I melted it with a heat source from underneath, so no glue or ink to hold it in place, the powder kind of melts where it wants to and I love the snowy glimmertastic effect it created! I'm hooked!

There are so many really adorable stamps in this set, and you still have time to play with the wintry images, they are not all just for Christmas! Have fun creating!

Oh that Stache!

I have been very behind this Holiday season, I have skipped many of the things I usually love to do this time of year and I've even been a little BAH HUMBUG at times. But dang it I made cards! I only made 15 but to be fair they took an entire day to complete, I painted, I handcut, I pom pomed and I poofed some staches!

I love the giant poofily mustache on this Santa, and he helped me feel so much better! I had fun making them, the hard part was decided who to send them to...if you are on my card list and didn't get a card I'm sorry.... I will make it up to you next time! If you do get one, well now you know just how dang lucky you are! LOL

I made two color options......I love them both!  I did manage to do tons and tons of online shopping while I was waiting for paint to dry, so I had a successful Holi-day! {worst pun ever} I stick by it. I seriously LOVE buying what I want without all that "standing in line, playing the parking lot game, or getting hit on by creepy bell ringers!"

Share a link to your 2014 holiday cards I would LOVE to see what you made!!!!  Or just say "hi"

Puffy Santa Cap December Crafty Secrets Linky Party

I love Vintage Santa, he is so cheerful and rosy cheeked! Crafty Secrets has a new collection of the dearest old Santas you have ever laid eyes on! I chose this jolly man so I could show you how to make a puffy trim on his cap!

I printed my stamp and colored it in with copics complete with a set of pink cheeks, and a rosy little nose. I left a big portion of the image white, to add embellishments later.

To create that textured look apply a medium thick coat of Puffy dimensional fabric paint to his cap trim.

You can let it sit overnight to dry and puff up on its own {yeah right} or do what I do and hit it with the heat gun and watch all the Christmas magic! The paint will puff as it dries, and look just like fur trim! {I know cool!!!}

Now add a few finishing touches like snowflake sequins and a crepe paper round topped with a silver glitter star!

Be sure to play along with the Crafty secrets Linky party, not only will you get some of your Holiday projects done, but you could win some yummy crafty secrets prizes! It's a win win!
