Thankful Thoughts cracked glass tree

Let me start with a quick disclaimer...I never liked Thanksgiving {I know I know, but let me explain}
Growing up, Thanksgiving holiday was less than a picture perfect gathering around a table of bounty and family togetherness. It was usually stressful and meager. it just sucked.

I didn't get why  people loved it so much..this "Holiday that celebrates eating too much"  It wasn't until I moved away and opened my heart up to the idea of family, and learned to love that I began to understand gratitude, thankfulness and the much bigger idea. The celebration of food at one time in our human history literally equated to life. Celebrating life, now that I can understand, that I can stand for.

Each day I am surrounded by people that I love, {I don't say that lightly because by nature I don't give up love so freely}. I have friends and family that mean the world to me and I am beyond thankful to have them in my life. { yes they drive me crazy, and yes I annoy them} but I am grateful for every day. every moment. that I am here, that I am me, and that I have so much. I try to celebrate life daily, but this is really a time to focus on all the little things we take for granted.

Happy Thanksgiving to you my long distance friends, my readers, and my fellow "make beautiful things" soul-mates.

I have been so fortunate to add designing for such incredible teams and meeting so many talented and kind people to my cornucopia of  things to be thankful for.
Thank you for being part of my life, for supporting my "art" and for always lifting me up higher than the teenage version of myself could ever ever have imagined!

Washi Tape Tealights and winner announced!

Holidays are filled with the spirit of giving, and filled with wrapping, shipping, school plays, shopping, and....well you get the idea.

The season is busy, so to help balance your time and your budget I have a quick and very useful little gift set. Wrap a set of tea lights with festive washi tape, I like the clear light containers because washi tape is thin and you can see through it usually. As a bonus embellish a box of matches and whip up a pretty box to present them in.

I cut the Box with my Cricut and added a dolled up bow and bells. pop a tag on and your gift is complete. Its beautiful, its fast, and best of all its something they can use!

Are you the lucky winner of the Ribbon roll control giveaway? you are if you are comment number 11!!! Congratulations Cathy!!!!! I will contact you for your mailing address and Trish will get this out to you! I bet you are going to LOVE it!

Gold Joy

This week I have been having fun with the new Kitchen memories digital kit from Crafty Secrets, I have also challenged myself to use some of my long neglected or downright forgotten craft supplies. I have boxes, cabinets and drawers full of things I really need to use!
The mix of the two led me to make a nontraditional Christmas card!

I embossed some of my chipboard letters from way {way} back with gold embossing powder and infused the sweet floral image with a gold frame and chipboard bird. The printed doily is layered with a paper lace doily. Its vintage for sure but the mix is pure "found and fabulous"

You may have noticed that the cuts around the images are super crisp and there is no way a human can cut that perfectly..well that is because I used the Silhouette to print and cut the digital images. I love that I can do that! {if you don't have an ecutter you totally need one}!!

Don't forget to enter my Ribbon roll control giveaway here You still have time, and anyone can win!

Peppermint Twist Tags and a giveaway!

If you were a Cricut magazine subscriber this may be a repeat project for you, but I love to share some of my all time favorites here too! This was published in November of 2012 and you know what I still love this set of tags! We are pretty darn in love with candy canes, and I have used them for lots of different Holiday crafts over the years but this one is still my favorite!

I cut the candy canes with my Cricut and sponged all the cut edges, there are lots of layers and texture! I cut the little tag with the cuttlebug 2x2 tiny tags set and you know I have used that die probably 1000 times and it is always my "go to" for making a little "to and from" tag!

The three little buttons as holly berries is a luxurious detail that makes this tag just pop, they could only be sweeter if they were really made from sugar!

I have talked myself right into making another set!

Do you own Ribbon?

Retro Kitchen Muslin Gift Pouch

Allow me a moment to swoon over the new Retro Kitchen digital kit from Crafty Secrets, its packed with adorable papers, printables and pretties! I made this sweet little muslin pouch with recipe cards to give as a hostess gift. With the Holidays around the corner there are sure to be cookie exchanges, cocktail parties and feasts fit for a king, all those "get togethers" will require two things 1.lots of wine and 2.a hostess gift or two!  { and 3 maybe some yoga pants ;)}

All of the elements and papers were printed directly from the kit, quick, simple and really crisp beautiful images! No special equipment needed, I printed onto white cardstock using the best setting on my printer. Oh and scissors. Easy right?

I love to cook, love the food network, and foodie magazines but I'm not a creative kitchen not at all! I have to follow recipes { to the letter } so I don't mind sharing a great recipe when I stumble upon one!  I have to say a few of my "specialties" came from recipes that were shared with me by good friends!
I will never master the art of biscuit making but I can print up some super cute recipe cards! ;)

I have a giveaway coming your way tomorrow Monday Nov. 10 please stop back in for all the info! until then Happy creating

Good Day Sunshine Stampcation displays

Stampcation 2014 was a ton of fun to design displays for!
Our concept was to interpret a few favorite Beatles songs into papercrafts and art displays. My partner Linda Heller made this amazing circle garland that hung from the ceiling and dusted the table {Thanks to our chief engineer Robert who did all the hanging, to bring the ideas to life and made this breathtaking mailbox!} I am so lucky to have such talented and creative friends! My heart is full to the brim with love for the people that surround me  that inspire and continue to cheer me on! They think I can do anything, and there are some days that I almost believe its true!

Can you say here comes the sun? This was the view from the entrance as "Stampcationeers" walked into the room for the first time! We wanted to greet them with a bright and happy visual display as well as our theme song for this years event! Can you truly not be happy with that song playing as you start your weekend? I think not! :)

I spent hours upon hours making paper flowers! This one flower has more than 20 layers! Wowsa they were heavy and strikingly gorgeous.... if I do say so myself!  And I do!

I hope you enjoyed this little tour of our "Good day sunshine" section of Stampcation 2014 what do you think so far? You want to see more?
There is more to come and do you remember that I mentioned a giveaway? I will be posting a prize giveaway on Monday Nov. 10 that you won't want to miss so stop back by!  see you soon

Crafty Secrets November Linky Partyand fringe Tutorial

Hi there creative and crafty friends! I have an embarrassing confession. This months Crafty secrets Linky party is about all things Christmas, I LOVE Christmas and can you believe I am late to the party? Not fashionably late, just downright missed the date late, late! sigh

So to make up for that I added extra glitter, extra frills, and a fun and easy little tutorial that you are going to want to tryout! Let me show you!

I have always loved fringe, I have used it on tons of projects over the years, and recently realized I could make my own from filter paper a product by Stampin'Up! you can also use tissue paper or crepe paper!!!! {I KNOW} Just trim each side of a 2" strip with these super cool fringe scissors { or go the old fashioned route and snip one strand at a time! { hey it could be a very zen type activity for some people}....I'll go with the fringie snips thank you! :)

You end up with a gorgeous delicate little wispy strand. Now this is yummy to use as is, but I thought " what if I dip dyed the edges?" { I KNOW} genius!!

I used sea glass glimmer mist, its sparkly and thin, and dries fast. Plus it's super pretty!

Look at that shimmer!

Here it is all dipped and dried { I cheated and used the heat tool to dry it faster...remember I'm late and needed to hurry!} *blush* Once all dry and gorgeous I used sticky strip to adhere it to my little can that is covered with polka dot paper from the Vintage Christmas collection , and dressed up the bottle brush tree with all manor of baubles and glass glitter!

I fell in love with a group of bottle brush trees by Karin from Creative Chaos  and just had to make something along that line, I had so much fun getting covered in glitter and choosing what elements to use. I even watched  Christmas shows On Netflix while I was working to help me get in the Holiday spirit! { do you ever do that?} I'm officially hooked... I already know I will be making more!

Are these little tickets not the cutest? They were also from the Vintage Christmas collection, I can see myself making a garland out of these!

One more look at the actual project. Now its time for you to play along! Its so simple and you will be entered in for a chance to win some awesome Crafty Secrets you can get a jump start on all of that Christmas crafting! All you have to do is create a new project any theme is fine and play along!

be sure to visit all of the amazing Designers and of course don't forget to say hello to this months guest designer Brigit
