Nutcracker Slider tutorial

During Stampcation I hopped on stage and presented 6 different projects, one of them was this super funny nutcracker with a slide open mouth, I had every intention of showing the step by step process and had spent hours perfecting the slider to make sure in functioned flawlessly on the big screen.....however
"I" did not perform flawlessly and  {ahem...} got a little flustered over a lost piece and couldn't make the project.  sigh.

It seems only right to finally show that step by step process! I'm sharing it with all of you and with all those who attended Stampcation! Here goes....

Start with a few supplies: You will need The Santa Stache stamp set, the mustache framelit die, black ink, coaster board, the scallop punch, markers, twine, hole punch,scissors, dimensionals, silver paper, and a scrap of red, and vanilla cardstock.  {All supplies Stampin'Up!} To order click here.

1. Stamp 2 Nutcrackers onto coaster board and one on silver cardstock, trim. cutting the collar off of one of the stamped nutcrackers.

2. Adhere 3 scallops to the top and bottom of a 1" X 1.5" piece of cherry cobbler cardstock.

 3. Turn over and trim any excess hangover from your scallops { these are the "teeth" so you are being a dentist elf right now} ;)

4. adhere collar to a 2 X 2.75" piece of vanilla cardstock adhere the "mouth" just above it.

5. trim along edge of mouth and collar but leave at least 1/4" T at the top to create a stopper for the slider.

6.Run a length of tape across the T and fold over just to the top of the "teeth"

It should look like this. I trimmed the sides of the stopper to the widest part of the nutcracker, {as pictured they are just a smidgen too wide.}

7. Color your nutcracker as desired, I used cherry cobbler,pool party, and wild wasabi. You only need to color the Nutcracker that has his collar trimmed, but you can certainly color them both if you like. Coaster board is sooo easy to color and shading is a dream!

8. {I decided to add a little bit of gray to tie in my silver mustache} gather your slider layers the slider mouth will be sandwiched between the two nutcrackers.

9. lay the slider on top of the full uncolored nutcracker and place dimensionals along the side of the slider just at the mustache. Get as close as you can without impeding movement, add another along the length of mustache. Add a small bit of tape at the very top.

10. Now layer the colored Nutcracker on top and secure into place. check that it slides smoothly. Now you are ready to embellish! Add a stamped greeting, a bow tie for your slider pull, and sparkles if you like!

He is ready to adorn a package, a card, or a tag! Enjoy!!!!
