A Slice Of The Sweet Life

This pairing of the paper lace and preserves Cricut cartridge, resulted in a pretty little round card that just oozes with summer charm! I'm a few days of track for this weeks Mojo Monday sketch..but like my Great Aunt Libby always said .........better late than never!
  I sometimes need a reminder that I live a blessed life, Summers are especially busy for my family and our family run business. We don't get much time for recreation, so we cherish all the little things, like cold sweet watermelon slices for dessert after lunch! {yummy}

In the coming weeks I may not get to post as often as I would like, but hang in there with me I will be around...even if its just to share some fun photos I take along the way! Can you believe its almost July? Summer is in full swing! What are your favorite "Slice of the sweet life" moments?

Happy Creating~

Remembering Roses' Peonies

Beautiful, vibrant and Pink. The peonies that bloom in my flower garden were passed down to me by an extraordinary woman of strength and tenacity. She had very strong opinions and made sure you were aware of them, she was forged with a spine of steel and a heart of gold. I had to earn her friendship, and found her abrasive compared to my own Mother. My husbands Mother Rose grew to love me, and I loved her too, I admired her spirit....her sass!

I smile a warm and special smile when the peonies bloom, they were her favorite...and now they are my favorite too, the giant blooms with heady perfume bring me happiness and comfort. These peonies are a testament to survival....although these were planted 5 years before she passed Rose never got to see her flowers bloom.

The entire family gets excited when the first flower slowly opens up to reveal the bundle of pink petals that eluded her. We always giggle at the story of how each year someone thought the scraggly plants were a weed and cut them down in early spring. We remember her laugh, her life and what she meant to us. Those peonies in a way, are a living scrapbook, one that grows each year and delights us with the memories of a woman who was vibrant and strong, yet beautiful and sweet. Just like her flowers.

You Mean The World to Me! Imagine That

Its day 3 of Father's Day cards .... I have had so much fun making them I almost could keep going! I think the process of creating for someone you love and care for causes a chain reaction. You think about what they would like, and what you want to say to that person. So many memories bubble to the surface, and I couldn't manage to stop smiling. My family is my world, and Mr.Wonderful is all over the map of my life.

I have said it before and I will say it again, I love my imagine. I love the artwork that you can print out in any size and use it any way your heart desires. In this case a 5" heart shaped world, I stitched along the edges in black thread in a "loose as a goose" pattern. I snipped a length of twine and dug through my jar-o-buttons where I found this tiny key....LOVE IT! A trio of buttons and a hand cut flag finish it up.

I can't wait to give him his card, he has given me the world...and now I can give it back to him! *grin*

 do good things! Happy creating~

Super Truck, Super Dad

I'm super excited to share this card with you ! Yesterday I showed you the Poker card made for my youngest daughter to give her Dad. Today is the card my oldest will be giving him. She instantly fell in love with this big truck on the Father's Day cartridge. Mr. wonderful drives a big truck with a lift kit and its so tall my short little legs can barely get me in the truck...its quite comical actually! Well he really loves his truck,  I think this card will be a hit!

This easel card was cut at 5.5"x 11" scored at 5.5" and 7.5" the front panel is 5.5" its really easy to make and if you would like the tutorial on easel cards its  HERE on splitcoast stampers. I cut a little roadway to act as my easel "stopper" this is where the card will rest when opened. I modified the cut by leaving the negative tire cuts in place and taping them down, I personally like the look of the full black tire. I also cut little silver glitter paper pieces for the grill and the wheels, I also to a small piece of plastic { from my cricut cartridge packaging} and made a windshield. *grin* The clouds, sun and road are all from everyday paper dolls

You can just see the embossed design in the gray papers, but it adds that little extra "roughness" this card needs to balance out the glitter! *wink* All papers are from Bella blvd. with the exception of the sun and that is from my minds eye. All cardstocks are American crafts! {and are my favorite to use with the Cricut}

Now I still need to make a card from ME!! LOL I better get busy!........Happy creating, see you soon~

Dad You're A Winner

I'm just barely one step ahead of the game but ahead none the less, at least I'm not trying to crank out fathers day cards the morning of :)  I know you know what I'm talking about...that mad dash to get a card finished 3 minutes before you have to leave for Sunday morning breakfast with all the guys.... glitter still wet, and a quick scribble inside the card! LOL
But not this week, this week I have a couple of cards finished...I almost broke my arm patting myself on the back! *giggle*

As many of you may remember Mr. wonderful is a big poker player, and when I asked the teen queen what she wanted to give her dad, she did not hesitate to request a card with a poker theme. Hello and thank you Cricut Fathers Day cartridge!! This cut is perfect for a card player, I did layer the white and hand cut it so I could have it Popped up off of the card......because lets face it I can't make anything without pop dots!

I mixed Bella Blvd Tail waggers  and Cosmo Cricket upcycle for a bold and fun red, black and gray combo. I love the way this card turned out, and I'm sure he will too...good thing he is so busy this week- I know he won't have time to read the blog but even if he does he will act surprised because he is good like that!  :)

Happy Creating, come on back and don't miss the "super" card I have for you tomorrow!!

All Girl

These two words describe me pretty well, I am all girl! So it comes as no surprise that I tend to fall head over heels for little girls who embrace their inner "frou frou-ness" including my own daughter Meagan who recently straightened her hair and put on a fresh coat of lip gloss to sit by the fire...I love that little bit of extravagance that sets us apart from men. You can bet that when I spotted Teresa Collins Posh collection, it was love at first sight! This collection instantly reminded me of my carefree days playing for hours on end with my Barbie dolls! Gorgeous pinks, and blacks! yep love it!!!

I ordered the stamp set and embellishments that coordinate with the posh papers from creative xpress, loving' this whole line really! I know it will be gone in a flash with all of the "posh girly girl" projects I want to make!  :)
I think this will be pretty for a baby shower being thrown for a very chic mommy, Ooh la la!

I was lucky enough to have a little free time today to work with this weeks mojo Monday sketch, I hope to have a few more things to share with you this week..stay tuned!
Happy Creating!

Fabulous Finds Collections

I thought it would be nice to share some of my favorite collections with you. These vintage bird salt and pepper shakers are among my most treasured, they are not particularly valuable but I still hold them in high regard. They sit on a shelf in my summer cottage and I only get to see them for the 3 months that I am here.

This was the first set that I picked up at the community tag sale many years ago, I had no idea at the time that I would ever see another set like them. I just was taken with their sweet little bird faces and carved roses.

I'm not sure how many different companies produced these, but all of mine are different sizes and have a slight color variation.

This set is certainly the most worn, its a bit tarnished but I have never tried to clean it or alter it in any way, I actually love how delicate and ornate this set is and its my favorite of them all.

Two tiny love birds sitting on a branch

I have not found a set in a couple of years, but I search everywhere I go, the hunt is part of the allure to collecting. When you finally spy what you have been seeking its such an exhilarating feeling of victory!

What do you collect? {other than  paper crafting supplies LOL} I would love to hear from you about your search for treasures.

So Glad!

I have been pretty blessed to have many wonderful friends in my life, I cherish my friendships with these special people. My best friends make me laugh, accept all of my silly antics, and my crazy schedule. They give me the scoop on good books, great movies, and the best shopping spots! For all of this I think my very best buddy deserves a ribbon to let her know how much I adore her, and appreciate all that she is to me!
Have you seen the Upcycle collection from Cosmo Cricket yet? Its so fun and hip I love the handbag prints and the funky polka dots! For this card I chose to zero in on the yellows, grays and black print.

This weeks sketch over at Mojo Monday is probably one of the best yet, I really LOVE this gorgeous sketch by Julee Tilman is pure genius! I always print out the sketches and keep them in a binder so I can go back and use them over and over, this one is gonna' make it to the front with all of my other favorites! I used the built in shapes on my Cricut Imagine to build the ribbon, and cut the tails by hand. The center flower was coated in sugar glitter for a much needed bit of glitz!

I just want to take a minute to thank all of you that sent me such nice emails and messages wishing me a safe trip to New York, it really means a lot to me that I have made so many new and genuine friends through this big ole' blog world. It makes me feel like "its a small world after all :) " Talk to you soon!

Happy creating~

Calendar Birthday

*Whew* it has been a hectic few days in my little corner of the World. I have closed up my house and made the journey to New York where we spend our summers. After a flight delay I arrived to a very leaky washer, pipes in the shower had to be replaced, a dead battery in my truck, no Internet, and a mess to clean up from a break in we encountered during the winter.....I really needed some crafty therapy this morning!

Even though I had to whip this one up quickly, I did enjoy the crafty process! I love these papers from My minds eye, the browns and jewel tones mix are so yummy!  Today is the first time I inked up this stamp set by Kaiser...so pretty!!!!
I let Chella sort through the ga-jillions of vintage buttons I nave in a gallon jar, and these sweet little creamy white buttons caught her eye...I say she has a pretty  good eye! ;)
I hope you have a beautiful June day, happy creating~
