Kitchen Themed Bridal Shower

I was asked to create a set of 25 recipe cards and shower invitations. The color was to be predominately Navy, and maybe a touch of green...not too fussy and clean simple lines. This is what I came up with! The papers are Amy Butler for K&Co. and are infused with grays, navy and greens...beautiful!
The invitation itself is simple, with a ribbon detail and a stack of bowls cut with the Cricut expression.

These adorable recipe cards were printed and can be found here and are by Jayme Sloan. I cut the recipe index shapes with the cricut and From My Kitchen cartridge. I added a grommet to each one of the cards so the guest can add the card once filled in to their gift package.Isn't that fun?

If you are planning a shower of any kind this is a great way to share menus, advice, or stories with a Bride to be or a Mom to be! Parties are always fun, and with a little planning you can take a plain old idea and make it something special!  Happy Creating!

The Birds Song

I'm not fond of making sympathy cards, I wish we did not have the need for them. This has always been the way of nature, so we must face the unhappy days with as much passion as we do the days of celebration. This card is quite overdue actually, as I have not wanted to tackle it..but I'm happy I did.
I was inspired by this weeks mojo Monday sketch 188 to do a round card with lots of layers and flowers. The papers are from Pink Paislee Butterfly Garden...and I have such a hard time cutting them because they are so beautiful....have you ever felt that way? I'm like a little kid with a crisp dollar bill, I want to buy something but I do not want to give up that perfect crunchy dollar!!  LOL

This precious bird stamp is from Stampin'Up! the set is called Spring Song, I stamped it with stazon and colored it with prisma pencils, and blended the color with OMS and a blending stump. All the shapes were cut on my cricut E2, with the exception of the leaf die that is a sizzix sizzlet.

Teresa Collins Baby Boutique Imagine Cartridge...Non Baby card!

If you are a fan of Teresa Collins than you are in for a real treat! Teresa has two brand new cartridges coming out for the Cricut Imagine, these cartridge are chock full of elegant images and dreamy paper patterns. { I know..... its So exciting!!!} For this card I used her new Baby Boutique art cartridge to make a decidedly non baby card! I wanted to show you how versatile and gorgeous this cartridge is!
This card has no shortage of glitter and glam, with a chandelier tear drop from the Teresa Collins blingage collection ,some sparkle tinsel trim, and chunky glitter, this card really does sparkle and shine! I made this for a dear friend who recently made a big change in her life and has been working very hard to accomplish her goals, and I'm so proud of her. *tear, sniff sniff*  She is a shimmering example of perseverance and she will love this sparkling piece of pink and silver fan mail!!!  :)

Check out my interpretation of today's "try a new technique" on splitcoast stampers, the challenge is to stamp inside a die, My version is to use a cricut cut with a border and stamp the entire cut with a background stamp, the open area of the cut creates a negative space "frame" of sorts. To finish it I added my sentiment and ta da!!! I think its a cool way to use the technique!
lable cut is from the heritage cartridge. Did you notice the chandelier embossed panel? that is a cuttlebug embossing folder and as far as I'm concerned a perfect companion to the Teresa Collins Baby Boutique Imagine cartridge!!!

Where Are My Peeps?

Just a quick and fun project that you can put together even last minute! Every year the Fowler family has a BIG Easter get together we are always looking for new ideas to entertain the kids, We have an egg toss and many years ago we started the tradition of having a pinata full of Easter goodies...the Pinata was a pastel colored Donkey, thus the Easter donkey is a much looked forward to part of the party!
This year we are adding a new game called "where my peeps at?" a scavenger hunt for the teens! I found a cute template at Petit Debutant and printed it out on colored paper and coated them in sugar glitter. Attached them to skewers and they are ready to go!

 Happy creating!!

Edited to add: We numbered each peep and gave the participants a numbered list to check off, the peeps were hidden all around the park where we held the party. It was a HUGE hit and everyone had a blast! We will definitely be making this a new tradition!

Celebrate Your Day Cupcake!

Bright, Bold and Big on Wishes this cupcake card is sure to get the party started! I don't know about you, but I seriously need to get back on track when it comes to mailing out Birthday cards. I know if I have them on hand that is far more likely to happen, and I really do LOVE my friends and family so I really do want to let them know how much they mean to me!
This confection of stampy glittery goodness was inspired by the super cheerful papers from Pink Paislee called Soiree...isn't that fun? From there I water colored this cupcake stamp from TCP with SU markers and an aquapainter on heavy watercolor paper. More pompoms than may have been necessary...but you know me that's how I like it!!   :) *giggle*
I embossed the bottom layer with the happy birthday folder by provocraft in my cuttlebug, and the "rays" with the distressed stripes folder. My tip for covering large areas of paper with glitter is to use the terrifically tacky tape sheets {Love them}..no glue- no mess-no problem!!

You have to give this sketch a try, Shannon Tuebner did an awesome tutorial on making those rays...go check it out!      Happy Creating!

Paper Lace 2 Give Me A Squeeze

Well I only have one word to describe my feeling for the new Paper Lace 2 cricut cartridge......"smitten"! Be still my heart, the intricate cuts are stunning, and the borders will forever replace any need for border punches! The font is pretty, with a bit of a whimsical swoop, but is still practical for everyday use! Its a must have as far as I'm concerned. It has been a while since I broke out the markers, and I have missed water coloring so very much! This super cute stamp set was calling me and I enjoyed coloring in the sunny shades of yellow and blue!
You may be able to see the crystal effects on the ice cubes if you get really close to your screen...closer...yep there you go! Some chunky monkey clear glitter on a lemon slice that was cut out and popped on a button might just be my favorite detail on this sweet card! Well of course it is ...its glitter  :) * insert silly sarcastic tone here*

What ever you do today make it wonderful, happy creating!

HOWDY! Imagine that!

Howdy Yall!! Can you guess how I made this card??? If your answer was the Cricut Imagine, you are spot on "partner" I have had a hankerin' to make a fun chic cowgirl kind of card and the country carnival Imagine art cartridge made getting the look I was going for almost as easy as shootin' fish in a barrel. {OK I know I always get SO silly} I have to tell you I'm pretty excited about my rhinestone paper belt, I added all those fun studs with my irock. The cuttlebug paisley folder gave it that embossed leather look.

Fun fun tip for your letters is to add a thick layer of crackle accents, it takes forever to dry {1-4hours} depending on thickness, but SO WORTH it!! Love the weathered look! I also really needed a boost to get over my latest creative marathon that left my brain like a lump of warm jello....Mojo Monday to the rescue!!! THANK YOU for those weekly sketches... and I also have to give credit to Junk Gypsy for my cowgirl wannabe dreams :) I will never be a cool western diva, but a girl can play dress up right? :)

Going Home

A few weeks ago we were fortunate enough to have a 3 day work weekend in our home town, there is something so magical about being in the place you grew up. So many fond memories, so many stories. These are the moments that keep me inspired, the beauty of the everyday happenings that we sometimes take for granted. I saw this sunset every single day growing up...I know.... how lucky can you be? Honestly I just took it for granted............it was always there. NOW I see it, how stunning it was.

I hope I never forget to embrace each and every detail of the ordinary occasions all around me, I hope I never cease to be inspired by them, drawing my creativity and happiness from the bottomless well of the fantastical world we live in.
