Paper Lace 2 Ever After

Next week a young woman that I have known since her Mom used to push her around in a stroller is getting married. {boy do I sound old saying that!} I wanted to give her a card that resembles a garden of white and cream, with a bit of a vintage feel. I wanted to use the newly released paper lace 2 cartridge for the background and for the beautiful intricate flowers.

I originally covered the flowers with stickles...and it was just not as bold and sparkly as I wanted, so I went back over them with chunky glitter...much better! The double coating of glitter did make them a wee bit heavy for such a tiny little cut so they are a bit "droopy" but so are real flowers! Just serves to authenticate the look! :)

Let me start with my disclaimer....the camera picks up all the fine little imperfections that the {or at least my}  naked eye cannot see, despite my horror of the magnification of flaws I wanted to share all the teeny tiny pearls I added to the dress. I also painted in the dress with smooch....I think smooch is better served in  smaller doses. live and learn, and move on *grin*

I really like this card, its so soft and shimmery! Paper lace 2 is climbing the ladder to become my favorite...well one of my many favorites :) {seriously don't you love how gorgeous that center cut looks layered?}

Heres the scoop on what I used to make this card:
Cricut E2 anniversary edition , paper lace 2 cartridge, Happily ever after SU stamp set, walnut distress ink, Pink Paislee Butterfly garden paper, pearls SU, fabric brad Imaginisce, smooch, glimmer mist, chunky glitter SU, lace, ribbon, tag cuttlebug  tiny tags, stem Cricut essentials cartridge

Have a wonderful floating on cloud nine kind of day~

We Are Going To Be Juniors!

Happy Friday! Its a super happy day for my youngest daughter, today is the last day of school! She and her bestest friends are amped about becoming Juniors next know its kind of a big deal, you get a parking pass, get to go to prom, and can leave school for lunch!!!  They are dreaming of colleges, and future careers...but today, Today is all about not being a sophomore any longer!!!  :)

Being the "cornball" that I am  {I,m cool with being a goofy goober} I came up with the idea to give her group a box of Junior mints as a fun and silly way to celebrate the last day of 10th grade.

I printed out the little sentiment with my computer, and punched them out with a tag punch, the silver number 11's are cut at 3" with my Cricut Expression, and the paper was embossed with the  number collage cuttlebug folder. The school colors are Orange Silver and white, so of course you can use your school colors or mascot to personalize your little gift!

These kids have been Chelsea's best buds for a long time, and I KNOW they will just love this little token of acknowledgement of their growing up into big powerful High School Juniors! LOL Remember life is fun, and even the little moments deserve to be recognized. I hope you find happiness in all that you do..Happy creating~ Shantaie

Girly Summer Gift Sets

Today is the last meeting of the season for the Hen House Crafters group. We are a tight knit bunch, and today is bittersweet. We will stay in touch all summer, but with the kiddos on summer vacation and each of us going here and there, getting together is beyond a challenge. I whipped up these little gifties {at the very last minute I might mention} of a Gorgeous summery nail polish and pretty nail file. All in pinks of course!
The little purses were cut with my Cricut and the Forever Young cartridge. The pretty feminine papers are from the Garden Party collection by Imaginisce. The tag was cut with {my favorite} Embossing plus cuttlebug folder.

Wherever the girls may travel this summer, they will have the latest hot Summer shades on their toes to maximize the best time of the year....flip flop season!!!

Pop Up Masculine Graduation Card

Don't you just love the times of year that you get to make cards for those most wonderful celebrations? Lets face it we can only make Graduation cards.....well when someone graduate!, The whole time you are thinking of the graduate and the years ahead of them as well as the years you have watched them grow! I LOVED making this card for a young man that just finished high school. I used the Everyday Pop Up cards Cricut cartridge for all of the cuts on this fun "guy"card.

Now lets talk about pop ups...there are several ways to use the pop up images on this cartridge, and my way may not be the official way in the directions. {refer to my profile...creative rule breaker} I have some previous experience with pop up cards, so I make them the way I know, and like. There is no law that says you have to make them one way or another!  *giggle* As long as the card closes without destroying the pop up, you are in business!

A little hand rolled scroll with black hemp twine ribbon, and a stamped tag are the perfect greeting.

This paper was just a lined paper print, I stamped the sentiments in black and distressed inks to create a custom printed paper. I employed one of my favorite little tricks of using foam tape to "pop up" the layers of the graduation cap. I'm sure he will love this card...especially if I put a little cash in it! LOL

Happy creating,

Simple Sunday

I have had a busy week getting ready for the annual pilgrimage to New york, where we spend our summers. Mr. Wonderful will be leaving Tuesday Morning and I have to pack up my crafty supplies and other essentials to send with him, I will be flying up a few days later. Despite all of the end of season craziness I managed to whip up a sweet little card for simple Sunday. It reminds me so much of a set of sheets my Mother In Law used to have, yet so fresh and soft looking!

A oldie but a goody..the rock and roll stamping technique works wonders for this flower stamp, and makes it jump off of the card! The sketch is from Clean and simple stamping, give it a try I think you will find this one very "user friendly"  *grin*

I will be announcing the winners of the $150.00 and three Cricut Cartridges Tomorrow morning, If you still have not entered click here to enter for a chance to win! Good Luck all!

I Don't Have A Problem with Caffeine...

Let me start by saying that I have been hitting the caffeine pretty hard these last couple of days, I have had a LOT happening and that extra jolt of energy has kept me going! When I got up this morning at 5AM I did a zombie march into the kitchen to get a cup of caffeine, and directly into the craft room to grab this stamp set!!
I used this weeks mojo Monday Sketch, and as always, I enjoyed the challenge of working within the sketch and finding a creative way to showcase the fun sentiment! I HAD to have this saying on my card, and a slide out tag worked perfectly!

The tag was cut with my cuttlebug using the Olivia tag die. The stamp set is from TCP and is called coffee cafe. The papers are a mix of My minds eye, and the Girls Paperie. The background was embossed with a cuttlebug folder that kind of looks like squares of chocolate {maybe thats just because I'm hungry} but I'm sticking with it ...........looks like it to me! :)

I watercolored the stamped coffee cup with Stampin'Up markers, and coated it with crystal effects for a realistic look. Of course a little touch of glitter so the shimmer police don't come and drag me away for breaking the law!!  :) *giggle*

So we had a very very last minute change to the Hello Thursday lineup for the new cricut blog and I {and the whole team} was up late last night whipping up all new projects for todays release. It was a whirlwind of activity and a Herculean effort to put it all together! I have to applaud Our team leader Jana I know she was up all night!! I'm so in awe of the team for putting their worlds on hold to make it all happen with literally a couple hour notice! Simple Sunday

Let me start by saying I do not "do" clean and simple if I need to tell you that *giggle* I know what you are thinking  "that's an understatement of epic proportions!" Really its not that I don't like them. I actually love a well done clean card, I'm just not talented that way. But you know sometimes you need to step out of your comfort zone and push yourself to grow.
I was inspired by a blog I stumbled across while doing a little blog surfing called appropriately enough clean and simple stamping. There is a weekly sketch to give a try and I just can't resist a good sketch!  I borrowed the white stamped flowers lined with copics idea from Nichole Heady of papertrey ink  love the way that pops!

I'm actually nervous about sharing this card, it feels all wrong....
I will keep trying, I will grow, I may never be as fabulous as some of my favorite clean stampers, but I will enjoy this journey on an unfamiliar road! I hope you have a beautiful Sunday, Happy creating~

Wedding favor bag?

I'm feeling a little like lemon and gray today...Its the same color I chose to wear on this beautiful day. I love the sweet buttery lemon shade paired with the concrete industrial hue of gray, it meshes together in perfect harmony. The gorgeous patterned paper is by Teresa Collins and is from the Timeless collection. The bag was cut from the wrap it up cartridge at 8". One of my absolute favorite things about the cricut is that I can make the same bag at 2" or 10" depending on my needs.

These flowers are so pretty, and I made this entire project around them! There are cut from the pre-loaded Cricut essentials cartridge on the new E2 cricut anniversary edition. The spray of leaves is bar none going to be in my top five favorite cuts!!! I may just spend some time cutting them out by the dozen because they are the perfect little accent for...well for everything!!! they too are on the Cricut essentials cartridge  {heart}

I hope spring has found you wherever you are, that the sun is warming the air,and the birds are singing their songs! Make sure to take some time for yourself today, and as always happy creating!  Love~

Pop Up Slider Pocket

I know it seems as though I have been in Birthday mode lately, and maybe you are right! There is just something so fun and cheery about the prospect of wishing someone a Happy Birthday! I can't help myself! Today's card is a little different, I accidentally created this slider pocket while attempting something else completely. I haven't seen this technique before....but that doesn't mean someone out there has not already done it!  :)

To create the slider I cut a scalloped rectangle at 6 1/4" and scored a 1/4" {or a full scallop} 1 1/2 inches from the ends. Fold and adhere to card using foam tape to pop up the sides. A 2" tag will slide smoothly.

I started using the mojo Monday sketch...but git a wee bit off track LOL . That's the way it goes sometimes, the paper takes a different turn and you just follow where it leads! ......Of course if paper is controlling your life, you may need to seek professional help, I speak from experience you see. *giggle*
This adorable alligator was cut with the Cricut expression using the super fun birthday bash cartridge, and paired with the Animal crackers collection from Imaginsce.
This is the top view of the slider pocket, hope that helps make sense of how its made. Give it a try, it was easy...after all it was an accident, how hard could it be right?   As always happy creating!
