Purse-onality Cuttlebug Challenge 81

Its Wednesday, its Wednesday

.....I can finally show you my project for the week! I had to sit on my own hands to prevent myself from posting this too early :)  You know how it is when a girl has a good purse, she HAS to share it with her friends! I love this little paper purse....and was chomping at the bit to show you!

This week our Cuttlebug Challenge be inspired project is "purseonality" I have had the good fortune to get a peek at the rest of the Design Teams projects, and they are jam packed with multiple personalties {not the bad kind} *wink*

Layered Distressed Flower:
Want to make one? It was pretty easy...I know I always say that , but honest it is!
There are two ways to make it.
  1.  Using your cricut, and the forever young cartridge, cut your purse on the "fit to page" setting. Cut flower "9" set at 2 3/4 cut the shadow and the flower 2 times in varied papers. Emboss, sand, and crumble up {really squoosh it} then open all the layers and insert brad. {SU summer sun cord. brad used here} spritz with water and crumble more, allow to dry. Spray with glimmer mist, or shimmer paint for a hint of sparkle.
  2. Use you circle and scallop punches or die cutters and follow above steps, add 4 embossed leaves. It will take longer for the flower to dry than the whole process of making the flower!

Add a tag, and a library plate to serve as a buckle and you have yourself a handbag, that you wont lose your cell phone in. You can however fit a gift card, some yummy chocolates, or a few cosmetics as a gift....Channel lip gloss anyone?

*You are all my very best blog girlfriends*
So I have one more fab thing to share with you! You STILL have time to enter to WIN a cricut cake and many other fantabulous prizes valued at over 700.00! Its so simple to enter, sign up to follow cuttlebug challenge and leave a comment....your entered.

Party Hat Scrapbook Layout

This Class is a 2 page 12x12 layout full of Bright and happy colors
The perfect backdrop for a birthday themed evening.

I followed the color cues from the bold cosmo cricket striped paper from the boyfriend collection. The in colors from Stampin'Up! just worked so well to really make the pages come together.

I made a 5 1/2 triangle and pleated the paper for "fringe"I had to run a stitch through...but resisted the urge to stitch everything else....I swear once the machine goes on its hard to stop me :) {sew-a-holics anonymous anyone}

Why Post a layout without photos?

Well truthfully, most of the class attendees have boys, I decided a gender neutral {and age neutral} layout was in order.....however most of the parties I have oodles of photos for are pretty darn girly! Thus the "blank" pages. But don't worry they will get filled in!!

Cupcake Apron and Giant Cupcake tags

One sweet apron.
Goes to the winner of my cupcake giveaway, MShady. She will no doubt be stalking the postman over the next few days since her box of cupcake goodies went out in the mail today.

She also won 4 large cupcake tags, 3 yards of ribbon, sparkled cupcake sprinkles and a free copy of my babycakes tutorial ! Don't forget you still have time to enter to win the cricut cake  By visiting cuttlebug challenge and signing up to follow and leaving a comment.

I really fell in love with this fabric, so much in fact, that I had to try on the happy yellow apron as soon as the last stitch was completed!! Oh how cute!!! Oh how hard to part with   :)

The apron is reversible, with 3 pockets on the reverse side. Both of my daughters....who dream of a mother daughter cupcake bakery ,instantly "demanded" that I make them an apron too. Funny that they separately said the identical thing the moment they saw the apron! For being SUCH different people, they are still very much sisters after all!

Congratulations Mshady my lucky cupcake winner!!!!

Can someone get me a band aid for my life?

I'm watching paint dry.
No Really! I'm literally watching the paint dry.Why is that the paint dries faster if you drip it on the floor than it does on the cabinet door you're painting?  In what universe does that seem just?

Hello,my name is Lisa and I'm selling my house, kind of sounds like I need a 12 step program doesn't it?         Why am I selling my house? Well, lots of people have asked me that question and here's my answer:
Because my baseboards need cleaning. *wink* Come on now you know that's the only time they get cleaned.
The real answer is, I am trying to give my two girls a better life, by giving them back their mom. I'm a single mom who works two jobs and tries to do the best I can by them ,but sometimes that's just not enough. So I am selling my cute little house and, I am going back to school. We are moving to a small town (lower cost of living) where my folks live (bonus: a father-figure in their lives) in hopes we all can spend more time together. .
I am doing all of the work myself. Do you wanna know why?

Because I enjoy stressing myself out!

No, I do! It's my favorite! I'm not the kind of gal that hires a cleaning lady and calls the realtor... OH NO! I make lists! Lots of lists. I can do it all! I can sell the house myself too! Hey, I think I can do it all in a month! Who needs to eat, sleep or shower?

My favorite cousin in the whole world laughs as I tell her all of my schemes for preparing the house. I never change the channel from HGTV (love Design to Sell), my poor kids, are covered in paint speckles constantly, it's easier to go to Home Depot and tell them to match the paint on my arm than to remember the name of my "market friendly" paint color!! {Was it bamboo stillness or white luxury?}

I have learned every superstition for selling a house the web has to offer. Where can one buy a St Joseph or a Fung Shei map? Seriously? Do people really do those things?

So, she wanted me to share my tales of woe ......ummmm  er I mean  adventure with you, her loyal followers. Insane? yes she is, I mean really who am I?.Who wants to hear me whine? After all she has no choice, She's family, she has to listen! So, I hope you don't mind while I humor her!

OK back to my cute house. I live in an affluent suburb of a big city, the house would probably sell itself. But  having a creative bone, I can't leave well enough alone! So far I have painted the three bedrooms, two bathrooms, the half-bath was fine, and the basement, basement stairs and railing.
Pardon me for a minute while I tell you a little bit about painting cinder block. It's. not. fun. Oh it sounds like a great idea, you know, brighten the space up, show the buyer what it could look like finished...It's a nightmare to paint,  And it's very messy! Don't think you can paint it all in one day either. Not. gonna. happen. And wear long sleeves when you do paint: It hurts getting that paint off of the little hairs on your arms!  OUCH Can someone get me a band aid???
Painting the stairs is a joy (please read that with sarcasm!) I figured out if you paint one side first it works out better......Well it works out better for you, not so much for the cat whose litter box is in the basement. I'm just sayin...

So kitchen cabinets were next on the list. I have a small but efficient kitchen so I figured painting the cabinets would give me the biggest bang for my buck so to speak! Wow! What I have done so far looks great but I think when I go to bed at night, the cabinets multiply! Just let me tell you, the paint with primer already in it has been Heaven sent! I started out cleaning, sanding, priming, priming, painting until I found the paint/primer combo! The Heavens opened up and the choir sang! Well, I sang!

The kids are afraid to go into the kitchen for fear of getting paint on them. It's everywhere! Plus, no one can find a dang thing. The drawers along with the doors are on the dining room table. So where have we been eating dinner you ask? Well in front of the TV of course, just like every family in America! It'll all be worth it when the house sells, right? Please tell me I'm right!!!

And in between each coat of paint I am packing......and packing, where does all this stuff come from? You know what "they" tell you to do:

De-clutter, De-personalize and destroy your back carrying heavy boxes to the garage. How does ONE de-clutter while ONE is still living in the house with two kids, a dog and a cat? Especially if ONE is a collector of stuff? We have had a yard sale to get rid of the stuff. We will need to have more since I just went yard-buying...FYI this is the opposite of selling your stuff at at sale, its the act of buying more stuff at someone Else's yard sale :)

Well I guess it is time for me to get off my butt and put another coat of paint on the doors. I'm sure Shantaie will want an update once the house is up for sale. Please leave me a comment ,If anyone of you have sold your house on your own, I would love to hear your helpful hints and how you lived through it! You did live through it right??? Please tell me you lived through it!!!!

Thanks for reading! Time go to finish the kitchen!
 What's next: Staging!

Happy painting, Lisa

Favorite Finds

All Images Anthropologie.
I Love this hip new take on the nautical trend. I especially love the lobsters and the octopus apron....Some of my favorite finds this week. Girls, I feel a shopping trip coming on!!!
What is your all time favorite sea creature? I'm a mermaid girl for sure,I just love the whole idea of a beautiful half girl swimming around the ocean, of course  that may be due to the fact that Meagan watched the little mermaid twice a day every day for 3 years!!! I can recite the entire movie from memory  {no joke} "kiss the girl" is still one of my all time favorite songs :)
Happy creating {or shopping}

Dragonfly Dreams Be Inspired #80 Shadow Box

I'm a bit late posting my cuttlebug challenge be inspired project today, I had a few finishing touches to add before it was ready to be called "done". This end result is better than I had envisioned to be truthful. I LOVE dragonflies ,with their gossamer wings flitting about they are one of the most beautiful sights in nature. I knew from the moment we were assigned shadow boxes for the challenge this week that I would use this dragonfly punch........the rest ,as they say "just fell into place"

I sprayed the linen mat with glimmer mist to give it a bit of "age" and shimmer. The dragonfly card was also misted with wheat glimmer mist and stamped with the "journey" phrase from define your life and French script{stampin up!} To create an over stamped collage. the tattered angels chipboard was sponged and is adorned with a key ,inscribed with the word "life"
That stunningly gorgeous filigree behind the card is cut from basic black card stock with cricut cartridge straight from the nest. I was concerned that I would have trouble with the intricate cuts, but it cut like butter!!! Call me impressed!!

The Dragonflies are cut from varied papers and some were embossed with the textile folder, and held in place with a black or pearl straight pin. The sentiment is a rub on....my first experiment on glass. {Love it} you should totally give it a try!!!  As a matter of fact you should join us this week and play along, our challenges are meant to inspire and uplift you. Give shadow boxes a try, make one for yourself or as a gift.
I have seen the diverse and imaginative samples from the rest of the DT, and assure you you will Be Inspired.

I would love to hear what you think about my shadowbox.....Hmmmmm should I put this in my craft room, or my boudoir???

Cuttlebug Couture

For all of my fashionista friends out there,  I have a treat in store for you. Cuttlebug couture!
I know we are knee deep in spring cleaning season, and as much fun as it is to dust the ceiling fans, and scrub the grout, maybe you should start by digging through the closet.
Thats right, ladies,Im giving you full permission to skip past the cobwebs, and reorganizing the medicine cabinet. We have more important matters to attend to, Fashion!!!
Turn last seasons blah ho hum tee shirt into a one of a kind head turner! This week at Cuttlebug challenge, we are transforming the humble tee shirt. Oh yeah your cuttlebug can handle this!!! and so can you!

I wore this top all day yesterday, and the compliments came nonstop. Just think of how fantastic it will be to have a whole new wardrobe without one single trip to the mall...well lets not get carried away :)

How To Make one of your own:
cut several flowers with the flower layers sizzix die{ stampin'Up!}. I have used a sheer polyester fabric.
treat fabric edges with fray check, this will continue the wash and wear quality we all love about tee shirts.
stitch flowers in place, and add sequins and beads if you want a little bling....and you know I have to have a spritz of sparkle!
Last but not least...... Wear it, wash it, love it, look fab!! Feel free to ask any questions, I will be checking in and will be happy to help you! I would love to hear from you :)

Pillow Talk

For most of us, home is the heart of our universe, its our haven, the one place that is truly ours. We decorate to suit our own tastes and personalities.A home should reflect the family that lives there. Little touches around the home really take your decorating to the next level.  Lets have a little, "Pillow talk" shall we?

I'm so happy to have you join me for a subject I happen to be quite passionate about, and that is creating a home that is comfortable, beautiful, warm and functional. I think its really important to be true to who you are when decorating your home. You should love everything that surrounds you. No matter where you are, or what type of space you live in, one thing remains true. We want the walls that surround us to show who we are, what we value, and  how we live our lives.
I made this gorgeous pillow with my multi tasking cuttlebug and cricut. I hope you will be inspired to look at you paper crafting tools in a whole new way, and unleash the potential they hold ,as home transforming tools!

Supplies: pillow form (16") used here, 2 yards of decorative trim, 3/4 yard of fabric, scrap of contrasting fabric, beacon 3-in-1 advanced craft glue, winter woodland cricut cartridge, sizzix  flower layers die, pearls, blank stencil sheet, stencil brush, Delta blendable stencil creme in Tuscany colors.

How to:
1.Cut stencil, using the winter woodlands cartridge. I cut branch1 at 3 inches . And the bird at 2 3/4
2. Cut fabric, leaving a 5/8 seam allowance. Attach trim and sew pillow together leaving an opening large enough to insert pillow.
3. Place stencil in desired location, apply stencil creme. I layered the stencil and overlapped sections of branches. This creates a longer fuller branch, and color variations.

4. Stencil bird where desired, allow creme to dry following manufacturers directions.Insert pillow, and sew opening.

5. Cut flowers out of contrasting fabric. apply with beacon 3 in 1 advanced craft glue.

6. Apply clusters of small round pearls on small flowers, and oval pearls on larger flowers.

Feel free to express your own individual style in your home. Just imagine the endless number of possibilities for creating a space that is unlike any other. Why stop at pillows? This method will work perfectly for a custom shower curtain, or duvet cover. There are hundreds if not thousands of images to make your own custom stencils, fabric appliqu├ęs, and cut vinyl. Let your cricut and cuttlebug transform your home, they can do so much more than cut and emboss paper!!! They are true decorating super stars!

And while we are talking about decorating, don't miss out on your chance to WIN a cricut cake, the first personal electronic cutter for food products! Go directly to cuttlebug challenge blog and leave a comment, and sign up to be a follower, thats all you have to do to get your name entered into the prize pool!!!

I also have a cupcake prize package to give away to one of you!! Go to this post and leave me a comment to enter!
Happy decorating,

A Few of my Favorite Stay-Cations

When you live in the vacation capitol of the world, where do you go for vacation? I live just outside of Orlando Florida, I certainly enjoy all of the perks that come with living in central Florida. But as much fun as all the theme parks and great shopping can be, sometimes a break from all of the hustle and bustle is needed! My budget did not agree with my desire to get away, so we enjoyed spring break with a "stay cation" warning {lots of photos} *wink*

We spent a warm sunny day at Harry P Leu gardens in Orlando, with birds singing, the heavy perfume of orange blossoms, and roses and a slight breeze blowing, it was like we were in our own paradise. This is a public garden with lake views and miles of unparalleled beauty.

We snapped 100's of photos, laughed, talked and walked in blissful silence for as long as any of us can be silent...all of my friends are chuckling at the idea of me being silent.  I CAN .....but not for very long :)

Chella and I love the smell of roses, and lingered in the rose garden for the longest time, Those velvet textured petals just capture your eyes as much as the sweet scent fills up your lungs. I still cannot breath in the rose without closing my eyes!

The sound of running water, I ask you, are there any sound more peaceful?

Figs!!! This is the very first time I have ever seen a fig tree! They are so pretty.

I hope you will take the time to investigate the many beautiful , fun, or unusual places in your own town to take a day trip. you would be surprised how much the kids will enjoy something different, your wallet will thank you, and hey you get to sleep in your own bed......there wont be maid service, so you will have to make your own bed too ; )

Happy Trails to You, until we meet again.

Loving Memories

In the many years that I have been paper crafting I have never needed a sympathy card, it seems unlikely that I would need 3 since November.  I have lost two of my neighbors, and dear friends of 19 years. Our quiet and friendly neighborhood will never be quite the same without them. Ed was the most extroidinary Holiday decorator!!! Tour buses were scheduled to come down our street to have the chance to view his incredible Christmas display.
As beautiful as the sentiments from thoughts and prayers stamp set are, I hope it will be another 10 years before I need to make another. This sentiment was made using My digital studio. I'm really loving this digital program from Stampin'Up!

I have layered nesties labels on top of an embossed base, a sprinkling of leaves, and pretty flowers cut with the boho blossom punch. To make these flowers punch the largest flower from the boho punch, clip between each petal curl forward with your fingers and attach to card with a glue dot. Place a rhinestone in flower center, and wahlah!

I hope you have a great day, and I especially hope you do not need a sympathy card, but if you do ,try to think of all the loving memories and good times you shared, while you are creating. It will be a happier task, and your love and cheerful spirit will show in your work. And hey if there is a tear stain on your card...it will be a happy tear :)   Thanks for stopping in, and as always ....
Happy creating!
