Watercolor Wishes

This bright and cheerful card is on its way to my dear Sister in law who is on the mend following surgery on her shoulder.I hope it will bring a smile to her face. I love working with sketches, and I have recently discovered the fabulous sketches at Mojo Monday {I know I know where have I been?}

I have been taking Kim Teasdales watercoloring class, I need a bit more practice...and by "a bit", I mean a lot more practice. I colored on the wrong side of the paper....total goof ball that I am! LOL

Vintage Friends, New Friends

Hello friends, both vintage and new. I made this card last week for the SCS sketch challenge, it has been sitting in a place of honor above my work area since it was completed. When I make something that I really fall in love with, the "vintage" favorite gets moved on out and the "new" favorite moves on in.
Something is special about this card, it is a reminder~ for me to cherish my friends, and not to put them on a back burner just because I'm busy. They are important to me, you are important to me. So to all of my friends, the ones I see every day, the ones I rarely have the chance to visit with, and the ones that I share the blogosphere with, vintage and new you are in a place of honor.

card details: I distressed and inked all the edges. the choc chip was inked with very vanilla, I stamped the friends, and the floral panel and inked over the stamping with very vanilla, to soften and give it a patina. the flowers were embossed with Clear powder and cut out. I added stitching on the corners of the panels, and a big chocolate bow, with a twine beribboned button.

I Always Do That!!!

I wanted to pop in with a quick post, and a very pretty card featuring {yes I hear you saying "the bird again"}my favorite stamp set. I actually made this quite some time ago, and it has already flown the coop! I pried it out of my stash and mailed it to Betty one of my sweet DT sisters {my real sister is also named Betty} what are the odds??
It probably is hard on the eyeballs to see, but I gave this entire card a generous spritz of champagne mist shimmer paint, the bird is embossed with clear embossing powder...and yes I DID cut off his wee little feet {again} I don't have anything against bird feet, I'm just too lazy to cut around them :)
If you have missed any of my other "feet-less" posts using this stamp set here they are:

hmmmm.....There are other birds conspicuously missing teeny little birdie feet, but in the interest of our friendship, I will not draw any further attention to my scissor happy ways!  *grin*

Sew Chic

Welcome to InkingPink, and to another Be inspired Wednesday challenge at none other than Cuttlebug Challenge blog. This weeks challenge may seem a bit intimidating to some, but check out this fabulous post by Cindy Royal for a wealth of information for machine stitching on paper. That should calm your fears about adding a few stitches here and there.

I happen to have a quite a lot of experience sewing, it is one of my greatest loves and I have a passion for fabric that runs deep. That first machine Mr.Wonderful gave me for Christmas so many years ago changed my life forever. I harnessed that passion as I created this card.

I'm just thrilled with the way this little sewing kit turned out, I used my new forever young cricut cartridge to cut out several of the dress forms and popped them up on dimensionals, the letters are cut from tag sale alphabet die,{ chic is also from the cartridge}, and embossed with Japanese scales folder, I added tons of white dots along the outer edge of the letters to mimic stitching.

The kit was purchased from my local craft store, and transfered into this altered Stampin"up! clam shell container, {they are located in the back of the Stampin'Up! catalog}. To make the elastic holders in the lid of the kit, I punched a small hole in the paper where desired and threaded elastic through, adhering securely on the back, and slipped the item into the taught elastic to keep it in place.

If you don't have a machine , you can add stitching by hand, or add faux stitching by using your paper piercer and a sakura pen, or a dark color marker. Try yarn, crochet thread, twine, and even ribbon. There are so many ways to add stitching to your paper projects!
Want more? The talented DT has stitched up some incredible projects for you, head on over to the cuttlebug challenge blog to see them all.

Tote-ally Tess is Plum perfect

This is the FIRST stamp set i ordered from the Occasions mini, but for some reason the LAST stamp to see ink. Poor Tess has been all cooped up in her box, I just had to set her free and let her dance in the ink....that was akin to opening Pandora's box  :) I'm smitten for sure!
I took my cues from the "oh so fun" sketch at Mojo Monday  , the brave{and surprisingly gorgeous} color combo from todays color challenge at SCS soft suede, pale plum, and perfect plum.

I created a designer handbag with a tiny letter 'C' from a teeny little alphabet stamp set.*grin* cute right??
I water colored Tess and her designer handbag with SU markers and my trusty aqua painter.
What do ya' say want to go to lunch and hit some of your favorite shops?? I feel a trip to Anthropologie coming on :)

Happy Creating,

Getting A Jump start on Easter

It may seem a little early to be thinking about Easter, but as the saying goes time flies while you're having fun! I made this for the technique challenge today at SCS this is a sweet little matchbook candy holder. The tutorial can be found here. I think you could use this as a wedding favor, or for a baby shower, or a welcoming little gift for your guest, fill it with a pretty guest soap.
I embossed the front of the matchbook and folded a scrap of mellow moss card stock in half and punched with the curly label  along the edge to create a longer label. The sweet pea stitched felt flower looks so pretty with a mellow moss leaf die cut behind it.

A Few Of My Favorite Things, Love Is In The Air

The sweet smell of roses can only be surpassed by their stunning beauty, this delicate flower has long been the symbol of love. I try to keep fresh cut flowers around the house as often as I can, they are such a pretty way to add color and luxury to any room.

This apothecary jar filled with the tiny heart shaped confections is a touch more grown up than the little boxes of grade school! Do you remember going through handfulls of them searching for your favorite sayings?

Its no secret that cupcakes are on my favorite things list, a frosting topped dream in shades of pink and red is true love :)

I have a huge collection of tea towels, this one hanging in my kitchen greets the family.  love is in the air.

This Ones For The Girls

Happy Wednesday to you, and can I get a "hoo-ray" for fabric from all of my fellow fabric junkies? This week the Be Inspired Challenge at cuttlebug challenge blog is to use fabric in any way on your project. I warmly invite you to play along, for more details or to enter click here.

My project is a gift for the girls of my Thursday group, the Hen house crafters. shhh....don't tell them its a secret! They cant find out until I give them their chocolates tomorrow! I have used Mel's template for her bucket bag to hold the chocolates in,{love this template} I embossed my bucket with the plum blossom folder, and added a scalloped ring around the handle. Just a thin strip across the front with the "friends" image from Stampin'Up!s vintage vogue would be pretty enough. But hey this is all about fabric!!

I saw some sweet tiny felt hearts on Melanie's blog, and wanted to make larger hearts out of velvet and chenille scraps.I ran the bigz tipsy hearts sizzix die through my bug cutting out layers of fabric and felt. I used mono multi to glue the layers together, then... started piling it on.  buttons, ribbons, roses, and sweet pea stitched felt from Stampin'Up! If you don't have the bigz tipsy hearts die, you could of course cut out your hearts by hand, they would be just as delicate and special.

I hope you will join us this week and dig through your beloved fabric stash, Or go shopping and find a new obsession..ahhh fabric I do love thee!

Love Hanging Out With You

How about a quick and useful valentine gift for anyone on your "love list" ? If you are short on spare hours this is going to add a little extra "me" time into your day. I used Sending Love designer series paper to cut out hearts with the scalloped heart of hearts embosslits die and decoupaged them onto a wooden hanger. Tie on a length of scrap ribbon and you have a luxurious Valentine fit for a queen...try bright colors for a child's hanger or muted shades for the man in your life!
I added a coat of decoupage on top for a permanent bond, a quick little bauble adds some sparkle and well ,you know me........ I HAVE to have glitz and glitter!

Hangers like these are sold by the dozen, you can knock out all 12 in about 30 minutes....Oh Yeah!! I can hear the bubble bath and new book calling your name now, go ahead you have the extra time! After a long and steamy soak in the tub, let me know what you think :)  I love hanging out with you!

A Little Lunch box Love

Its not too late to squeeze a few more Valentine projects in , and I will be sharing a new, fun and "do-able" Valentine project everyday this week. Today is all about the lunch box! These sweet little touches will brighten their day and warm their hearts!

This tiny Valentine is perfect for a lunch box message

For the card I used close to cocoa  and real red, the Stampin'Up! hugs scallop panel is layered with sending love Designer series paper, and the hearts are stamped in coordinating colors with the I { heart} hearts stamp set.I {heart} this stamp set!! I tied a simple knot around the envelope because I think the ribbon makes it extra special.

A single heart stamped and cut out for the inside greeting..you want to keep it short and sweet, so they have plenty of time to bask in the lovey-dovey-ness of the rest of the lunch box!

To make the heart shaped Sandwich ,assemble sandwich and use metal heart cookie cutter or a knife to cut out shape.

Cut a piece of wax paper , overlap and fold paper to keep sandwich fresh, fold ends like a package.
and tie with a pretty ribbon.

This lunch box beauty defiantly says" I love you"

Apply sparkely gems to plastic cutlery and wrap in a soft paper napkin, its disposable so you don't have to worry about your good silver taking a dumpster dive, but so adorable they just may save it and use it again!

Wrap it all up and slip a small rubber band on your sparkley bundle, apply a die cut or heart sticker for a sure to be noticed by all the other kids at the table touch!! You will be "the best Mom ever" Oh yes you are going to get a big fat hug for this one!!

This is so easy and and can be used for so many occasions not just Valentines day! Get a treat bag {I keep these on hand at all times!} and place a Wilton extra large baking liner inside..{ you can use a small one} fill with chips, or pretzels, cookies etc. tie a short piece of ribbon and add the die cut heart on hemp twine! I have to tell you I LOVE how fast this little treatie-cuppie-baggie thing is, no one will ever know it was easy! You can pretend it was labor intensive after they go on and on about how great you are *giggle*

Make special Valentine memories for all the heartthrobs in your life with a little lunch box love this week!
