I Need A Hero

Welcome back to InkingPink, can you believe its Wednesday already? Whew where does all the time go? If you are like me it vaporizes into thin air while doing all those daily tasks that for the most part have to be done yet again the next day, I'm tellin' ya' I need a HERO!{I know now that song will be stuck in your head all day} Hee Hee  :)

OK lets be honest here I don't expect a caped clad flying man of steel to show up at my door, but I want to celebrate the everyday heroes we have in our lives each and every day! We all have unsung heroes in our lives hiding in plain sight and Star Boy Luka is just the guy to help us give them the credit they deserve!

Luka is Watercolored with markers on heavy watercolor paper in muted oranges, reds, and turquoise, paired with Imaginisce papers he is brave, bold and ready to celebrate! Have you added your latest La La Land creations to the customer gallery yet? We love it when you share your projects with could say it makes YOU our heroes! :)

How about a quick and easy Halloween card? I Love Halloween and wish there was more time to make projects, but with a zippy quick card like this I can! The papers and die cuts are from K&CO Halloween collection, and I just love this "black-o-lantern" image :)

The pumpkin is layered with foam tape, and backed with {of course} a glittered circle, and a pleated medallion. I'm really hooked on the pleats that are so hot right now!

I hope you get a chance to whip up a couple more Halloween projects for yourself before the Ghosts and Goblins arrive and the bewitching hour is past!
Happy haunting!

Spooky Splash

I love decorating for the seasons and for each Holiday, the thing is I just don't have the storage space for boxes and boxes of decorations! The answer for me are little splashes of spooky in each room. In my bathroom I have added a vinyl cut spider embellished with gems on a refillable soap dispenser. The best part is that I can get double duty out of this seasonal hued display item by removing the spider after the moon rises on Halloween, and add a harvest themed element for Thanksgiving.

By adding festive hand towels and shaped soaps the bathroom feels in the spirit of the season without a lot to store when its time to pack it all back up! Use your cricut to cut images out of vinyl to add a touch of Holiday magic to any room, and simply peel it away and refresh your room when the next occasion rolls in!

Cupcake Sweetie

Super Cupcake Marci  from La La Land crafts is pretty in pink, and even sweeter on this round treat container! She is all decked out in various shades of pink prisma pencils and a splash of glitter to top off her cupcake logo! I did a bit of recycling as the round candy container started life as a laughing cow cheese box, I can never bring myself to throw out those types of containers, they just are so useful in crafting! You can fill this little round with anything from a cupcake shaped gift card {Target},vanilla and strawberry flavored lip gloss or everyones favorite treat CANDY!!!

I found these super cute velvet brads at creative xpress they are so soft and really cute! I will be ordering these in every color for sure! While I'm letting you in on my shopping trips, check out this fun paper ribbon I found at World Market in the gift wrap section, I'm smitten!!!

I read a quote today that I want to share with you:
"I think of life itself now as a wonderful play that I've written myself, and so my purpose is to have the utmost fun playing my part" ~ Shirley MacLaine
I plan to have the utmost fun being me, and how much more fun can you get than a hot pink Cupcake super hero? Thank you Irina for all the smiles you bring to the world everyday with the adorable La La Land stamps!

Scary Movie Invitations

What do Screams and shrieks,  Popcorn and candy, A big screen and a room full of teens have in common?Well it must be a scary movie party! For the last 3 years Chella has hosted a very scary movie night for her friends in lieu of a Halloween party. Each year the movie has gotten a little more spooky and the screams can be heard throughout the neighborhood! Imagine a group of teen girls scared silly!  Oh and don't think those boys don't yell just as loud because they DO {fun} Its a great way to celebrate the eerie season!

Can you believe she would not let me use any glitter on the scary movie invitations? I really wanted to give the ghosts a spritz of shimmer...but you would think I was turning the card pink and lacy she was so offended by my idea! LOL
I kept the card simple, and there are two reasons for that:
  1. I had to make a lot of them...all those bitty windows are a nightmare on elm street!
  2. I wanted the house on haunted hill to be center stage!
This invite was made using the happy hauntings cartridge and my cricut expression , the house was cut 6" and I used the multicut feature to really make sure those windows and gates cut...tip DO NOT use Stampin'Up black cardstock to try this even though its usually my favorite paper its way to heavy for the intricate cuts! the Ghosties were cut 3.75" and popped with foam dots.

Do You have any Halloween traditions that are a little off the beaten path? I would love to hear what you all do for Halloween fun! Until then Happy Creating!

Sing a Merry Song

Good Morning La La Fans! How about a new stamp release to get your weekend started? That's pretty exciting right? We have three new stamps for you to fall in LOVE with and today I am showcasing
Caroling Luka He is ready to sing a Merry song with his song book in hand and a cheery wreath of holly!

I knew the minute I laid eyes on this image I wanted to add texture to his coat, a thin coat of liquid applique did the trick! Isn't that fun? Looks like a warm woolly trim to keep him nice and toasty while he is caroling through the neighborhood! Trust me when I say that after a while you really become quite fond of these little cuties, they each have their own personality and come to life when you color them!

Every year in honor of Breast Cancer awareness month I head to my local salon and get a pink extension put in my hair, 100% of the fee goes to research. Its important to support this cause, and its a great time of the year to make everything PINK!!!

A glitter ribbon is a shimmering reminder to cherish each moment!

A pretty pink border and a clear clock face are such fun elements on this feminine card! Its pink, pink, and more pink! I incorporated this weeks mojo Monday sketch for my card layout, You all know how much I LOVE a good sketch!

Winters Flowers

What do you know its Wednesday already!!! Where has the week gone? Well when you have such sweet stamps to play with, the week probably flew by playing with paper and colored pencils! I have been having a grand ol' time with the new Winter release at La La Land Crafts Marci and Luka are all dressed up for Winter and are more adorable than ever!

If you are rubbing your eyes in disbelief at the fact that I have used purple....and lots of it, its true! I know I know ~ my reputation for being anti- purple is going to be ruined, but this paper from Basic Grey is sooooo gorgeous and I have to admit I really LOVE all the scrumptious shades of plum and fuchsia going on here!

I have left this card without a sentiment so I can use it for any occasion, I'm always needing a last minute Birthday or Thank You card to give out. You know it always seems to be that I need a card QUICK and I never have the one I need! Does that happen to you? If so make a few to keep in your emergancy stash :)

Pink Christmas

I hope you can see the embossed texture of the fabric in the photo.  The black background makes it a little difficult to see, but the fabric is completely adhered to the paper and then run through the embossing folder, the result is a deep crisp embossed impression. There are many ways to fuse the paper to fabric, heat and bond, glue, sticky sheets, modge podge etc...different fabrics will result in a variety of finished products, so experiment with several combinations and see what you come up with.
No matter what you will have a pretty embellishment for your next project, with the variety of embossing folders and millions of fabrics available the sky is the limit! Gotta' love that!

Happy crafting!
