Where I Spend My Days

My Craft room is where you will find me most of the time, on most days.
This is a small space jam packed with storage, and work surfaces. I share this room with my washer and dryer, and just past that wall is the other half of the original garage. We never parked in the garage, so a few years ago we opted to divide and conquer.I really needed a space of my own for my 4 sewing machines,and countless yards of fabric,at the time I was a children's clothing designer. Paper crafting has all but taken over my own little corner of the house {and universe} I like to think of myself as multi-abled, and I don't really tie myself down to only one craft {art} life is too full of fun hobbies to settle for just one :) {plus I have a fear of commitment}
Organization is the key to functioning in my craft room. The ribbon storage above was made from an old window belonging to my Family's Taffy stand from the 1940's. I added wire baskets to it and hung it on the pegboard.
I store my cuttlebug and big shot plates in this pretty napkin holder, they are always in the same place and are pretty enough to keep out on the book case.
Above the washer and my table are a long bank of cabinets topped with baskets for even more storage, this is where I keep my cookie cutters, envelopes,and spools and spools of serger thread
One of my favorite storage solutions is this shoe organizer turned die cut station. All of my sizzix, cuttlebug, and cricut paraphernalia is easily and quickly stowed away here.
I keep my colored pencils in an old sugar canister, one because its pretty and because I love having them right at my fingertips. {I love vintage dishes and canisters}

Well I do make a bazillion cards a year and these beautiful boxes that my friend Lynnette gave me serve as a temporary home for them, that is until they find their way to the mailbox and off to a new home.

My punches are all lined up in a row on rods, this is great because it doesn't take up valuable drawer space. I remember hearing on HGTV a long time ago when you don't have a lot of room, "go up" and use the vertical space.What do you know they were right!

I love how you inspire us to get organized! I have a 6 yr old daughter, and I want you to get back into sewing for the young kids. LOL Seriously, though, I love your craft room. Thank you for showing us. Love the window turned ribbon holder. Love, love, love.

Oh wow Shantaie, your craft room is simply amazing! Can I ask: what are the numbered bags for? And do you have a desk where you sit down, or do you craft standing up?

I was wondering if you'd like to be featured on a crafts storage blog (I'm on the blog team). I'd love to contact you to give you the details, but I can't locate your email. If you are, please send me an email: quick.to.blush (at) gmail (dot) com

Thanks!
Jessica

wow....beautiful and I concur, please tell us what the numbered bags are for. Inquiring minds ;)

I have been asked this question over and over again!
The bags are filled with sewing notions, and my gift wrapping accessories, like curling ribbon, tissue paper and package tie ons....I take gift wrap seriously :)
All of that "stuff" used to hang on the peg board, and was pretty ugly so I made the numbered bags to keep it organized and a bit more fn to look at!
Thanks for letting me know you like my space! I wish you all could come and hang out with me!!

Hi there -- I found your blog via Crafty Storage. I'm bookmarking so that I can come back later to spend more time looking at all of your lovely projects. Your spirit of fun jumps right off the monitor!

Thanks for sharing! I found your blog via Crafty Storage, too! I was doubly intrigued because my craft space is in our garage as well and I'm always looking for ways to organize better. I'm in the middle of a big purge right now. LOL

Is your garage attached to the house? I ask because mine is not. I neglected to note where you lived, but how do you maintain the temperature in there? I'm in CO and it gets pretty cold, so I have heaters. Your space looks warm and inviting! I love cohesive look, too.

I'm also thrilled that you embrace all kinds of crafting as do I. In the past year or so I've taken up crocheting and knitting again and keep finding new projects of all types I want to try. Makes organizing a challenge.

Sorry this is so long, but I truly appreciate your sharing! Have a great week!

Very beautiful and inspiring! How big is the shoe organizer and what did that cost you? I've not seen one like that before. I am currently organizing my room and taking it slow because this time I plan to do it RIGHT, because I do not want to do it again! Oh and I'm visiting from Crafty Storage as well. Have a great day!
