So Tweet Garden Markers

These plant markers have been on my " To Do" list for ages, but you know how that goes ....out of sight out of mind. Its a gloomy sort of day so I wanted a perky project to work on for today's color challenge at SCS. Chocolate, riding hood red and pink pirouette are the colors of the day. This would be a darling gift for any one with a green thumb, Or not!
the plant markers came in a pack of four and were dressed up with DSP in shades of riding hood red, chocolate chip, and pink pirouette. I used so tweet chipboard from SU and covered it also in various DSP . The birds beak and feet were colored with a marker as well as the pear leaf and stem, then coated with crystal effects. The leaves behind the flowers are a sizzix die snipped in pieces. All chipboard is attached with dimensionals. I popped on a couple of buttons, and they were done in no time!

Just for you! Cuttlebug cupcakes!

Can you ever have too many cupcakes? I don't think you can, so I'm happy to share with you my entry into the cuttlebug be inspired challenge #24 cuttlebug meets cupcake. I created this one of a kind party hat ,and revisited a favorite project the giant cupcake tag. THIS is my original tag, as you can see the embossing folders add so much more dimension. My party hat is pink pirouette, with a scallop nestabilities circle in the center. The distressed stripes embossing folder look like a paper liner for the cupcake. The yummy frosting is embossed with Swiss dots and has the most adorable pink pom pom on top. Every little girl {and big girl} *wink* will want one for her birthday!
This is a teaser of a sneak peek of my next project express!

This tag is just so perfect to wow anyone and maybe even cute enough to take the focus off of a bad gift wrapping job LOL! I used the distressed lines as the cupcake "liner" and swirls were debossed on my frosting and stickles were added in the grooves because I cant make anything without some shimmer.little white pom poms act as my sprinkles. A large grommet installed with my cropadile turn this into a tag!

Kiwi Tree

This 5.5 x 5.5 Kiwi kiss and black card was made for today's SCS sketch challenge. I like this card so much I will probably make a boxed set of them. I had no idea if I would be able to make this layout work , its a little out of my "zone" I even avoided it by cleaning the garage first.......I guess a clean garage was the inspiration I needed. Can you believe how beautiful this tree from forest friends is in fine black glitter?
This beautiful brad from K and company is wrapped around black and basic gray ribbon from Stampin'Up!

Inside the card is a Happy greeting from the happy everything stamp set made by Stampin'Up!
I stamped the background with baroque in craft ink and embossed with black powder.
I used heat and stick powder to adhere black glitter to the tree.photo corner punched pieces of patterned paper to dress up the black square.A pre-made die cut was placed behind my tree on dimensionals for a little extra texture.
What its made of:
Stamps, baroque, Forest friends{inside} happy everything
paper, kiwi kiss, black, very vanilla, patterned paper K and company
brad, rhinestones, die cut all k and co. heat and stick powder, onyx glitter, craft black ink, blk embossing powder, ribbon basic gray and black, all Stampin'Up!

Hey chick, you're invited!

Our family hosts a large Easter party and {small} egg hunt every year and this is a sneak peek at my 2009 invitations. My theme this year is baby chicks!
This is my first entry in the challenge at Our Creative corner , I have also combined it with today's SCS color challenge of these three Stampin' up! colors: kiwi kiss, baja breeze, and pretty in pink. They are too perfect for Easter. My card is a 4 1/4x4 1/4 square of kiwi ,layered with pretty in pink embossed with a cuttlebug folder and stitched around the edges. A double layer of kiwi and white is punched with a ticket corner punch, and my third layer again embossed with swiss dots CB folder, is the resting place for my 2 ovals featuring the cute chick from a new SU! set called an egg-cellent Easter. Its Punched with the scallop oval punch and the chick is colored with reinkers using an aqua painter, a light glaze of stickles give the eggs a touch of glittery glam.

Baja Birdie Basket

This is such a sweet basket, its elongated design reminds me of a basket you would have found on a farm 100 years ago. This template was designed by Claire Brennam and her template can be found here . Her basket was chosen for today's challenge at SCS. I decided to enlarge the basket by 25% its the perfect size for a couple of colored Easter eggs or some yummy treats. I ran the baja breeze card stock through an embossing folder, and highlighted the raised area with a sponge dauber using baja ink for a tone on tone look. The scallop border punch was put to work on the handle as well as the liner edges. The bird from Always Stampin'Up! set was embossed in black on a scrap of eggplant and popped with a dimensional next to the basket handle.
recipe:All Stamps from Stampin' Up! Always, oval all
paper, baja breeze, very vanilla, eggplant, patterned paper
cuttlebug, embossing folder, flower, button, die cut, oval scallop punch, oval punch, pearl ex{for shimmer} sewing machine.

My swirly mermaid cuttlebug be inspired 23

The challenge over at cuttlebug is too fun this week, its to use a punch to create a unique element on your paper craft project. I had totally planned on making a cute punch art bunny or a pig from Linda Heller's stamping school www.stampingschool.com But.... at my monthly Friday night "scrappy get together" I had a dilemma, and punch art saved the day! I'm soo pleased with myself for thinking this up!!My daughter Chelsea LOVES mermaids as all girls do, but this adorable sticker had orange straw hair, see below. My little mermaid has long blond wavy hair, I really wanted to make the mermaid look more like her. I plucked the straw hair off her head and plotted to replace it with locks of saffron swirls! I ran the swirls die through my bug a few times and styled her hair with all the swishy swirly pieces LOVE IT! I'm sure Simone and Margaret a couple of paper pal gals thought I had squished my brain through the bug, when I screamed in delight ;) On our Disney cruise in 05 { best time ever!} we went swimming with the stingrays in Grand Cayman so fun, so exciting, so scary. So cant wait to go back. If you click on photo you can see a larger pic of my double page layout.
I hope you like this mermaids new DO as much as I do!

I am Stuck on cupcakes!

I'm so excited to have been chosen as one of the winners for the cuttlebug be inspired challenge for this card !! I am a happy little stamper because I won a set from sweet & sassy digital stamps. It will be my first expierence with digital images, I can't wait to play with them...lucky me!! Thank you cuttlebug challenge blog!!, and Thank you sweet & sassy!!

On to my sweet sparkely "stuck on you" cupcake.

Todays challenge at SCS is to add stickers to your stamped project STICKERS I have never ever put a sticker on a card, a scrapbook page yes, on my binder in highschool yes, I may have been guilty of putting a sticker on one of the girls boo boos in leau of a band aid, but on a card?

well as it turns out its not at all a bad idea! My card is a 41/4 square, with a layer of happy birthday embossed patterned paper that was sanded to highlight the letters. I stitched around the border and added two scallop circles using my nestabilities, both punched with a paper piercer. That yummy cupcake was made by stamping big bold birthday in white on white and embossed sponged the edges pink and placed this bling adorned cherry sticker on top. A few randomly placed rhinestones and crimped liner top off this sweet card.

Springtime Easter baskets

I'm getting better at water coloring and I'm certainly going to keep on coloring! There are so many great products & techniques to help you achieve success. So far I have a couple of preferred methods and clear favorite products! On this card I used whisper white card stock from Stampin'Up! I colored the images with two different products. Reinkers and my aquapainter.. the aquapainter is by far my absolute favorite way to apply and blend color with ink, or water color crayons. Blender pens are for me the shining star when using water color pencils or pastels.
For stronger doses of color I used markers. I'm pleased with the end result and I look forward to hearing from you about your favorite ways to color are, let me know!

Framed friends!

I use a lot of ribbon, and in many different ways. This frame technique using ribbon tied in knots and run through a slit in each corner, is truly unique and adds a beautiful focal point to any type of project. I will be using this on a scrapbook page for sure! The frame could easily be adapted to a sewing project as well. The frame is made of vanilla grosgrain ribbon inserted through a slit that was punched with the fiscars handheld rectangle slot punch, I punched it twice to assure my ribbon would fit. You want to punch at a 45 degree angle to give it a mitered appearance.
The real beauty of my card is this pretty bird on a branch from friends 24-7. I colored my stamp with water color crayons and lightly misted with water, stamped on VV then stamped it again in sage Shadow and cut out the bird and placed him on the branch with dimensionals. My background is versamarked, and all edges are sponged with close to cocoa. I tattered the edge of the layer with the distressing tool from Stampin'Up! This look is really worth the few extra minutes it takes to create, I hope you will try it. Let me know if you do!!

Happy birthday poker joker!! Cuttlebug be inspired 22

Happy Birthday David! My hubby is 44 today I made him a card that was sure to get his attention...its all about poker. He is a poker enthusiast it is his favorite past time {understatement of the century} I say Poker joker because he is also the funniest guy I know, he gets away with murder around here because its impossible to stay mad at him hes too funny not to laugh at...I mean with, laugh with, not at.... Over at cuttlebug challenge, one of my must go check it out places, the link is on my side bar, the challenge is glitter. This card has black glitter for shine, and features the argyle embossing folder which much to my delight looks like a diamond pattern! The card is a 5x5 so I had to match up the pattern and run it part way through the bug a second time.
Stitching all around the card edge twice in a loose criss cross for a funky look. A deck of miniature playing cards gave me the accent I needed to top this card off just perfectly! I think this could also be a great scrapbook page! This double sided game night paper from Stampin'Up! couldn't be any cuter.

Yep so here it is in all its glory! There will be NO living with him , he won a POKER trophy. No not just "A" trophy the" best of the best" trophy. That makes David ....."the best of the best". HELP !! Where is this going to perch itself in my house?
This looks like a job for the Hen House crafters! Who are they? They are the fun and crazy { you know who I'm talkin"about } girls that I get together with every Thursday, we create,we talk, we share ideas, we have lunch, but most of all we LAUGH I'm serious I gotta get some waterproof mascara because I keep crying all of mine off. Every Thursday I look more like a raccoon than I do a "chick"!

Upsy Daisy acetate shadow

Two layers give this great shadow effect. The bottom layer is tangerine tango card stock, this color has been out for 9 months or so and its the first time I have run it through the paper cutter! I versa marked the stamp on the tangerine ( versa mark ink produces a watermark effect) Then stamped white stazon on a sheet of acetate aka window sheets. This really gives the impression of a shadow! All you have to do is lay your acetate slightly to the right and down a teeny bit. Im sure you are catching on to my affection for the cuttlebug embossing folders...this time I ran DSP through swiss dots and sanded the raised edge, its a whole other layer of dots :)...dots are good.
The key tag punch was sponged with a little river rock ink..to make a matt I punched kiwi twice and taped them overlapping a bit and popped my greeting on top with dimensionals.

Stamps: upsy daisy, inks basic black, versa mark, white stazon, river rock. kiwi kiss, tangerine, summer sun, whisper white, acetate paper. cuttlebug embossing folders twill tape(ribbon)

LuLu is frou frou

LuLu the poodle is a great shopping companion, she has fabulous taste, and never ever tells what size you had to ask the sales lady for because all that valentines chocolate is now sitting on your hips......sigh! today LuLu has a message of Merci! I made this card at 6:30 this morning..by the way I despise the time change at 6:10 when my alarm went off my brain was arguing that its only 5:10 {old time} why cant we just pick a time and stick with it all year? ..So anyways Chelsea has FCAT testing today, and can't be late for school so here I am trying to upload my card to the scs gallery, and totally loose track of time. We still made it & had time for her daily chic-fil-a "fix"
I used pearlex, with perfect medium to get a shimmery look for LuLu's puffy parts, the image was colored with SU markers, and layered on kiwi kiss, bella rose DSP, and whisper white card stock. The dots around Merci, were made using my white signo gel pen, it is the smoothest gel pen ever and just glides on the paper. LuLu is from SU Paris in the spring, behind the triangle I also used polka dot punches one of the new sale-a-bration sets that are free with a 50.00 order.

Baskets and Blossoms

Black bird, black bird

Have you ever ventured so far from your "safe zone" that it made you squirm a little?
This color trio of always artichoke, rose red, and black for the SCS CC209 turned me into squirmin' Herman! I decided to try it anyways...and found a new color combo that I like.. a lot as a matter of fact.
I recycled a cleaned veggie can for this treat container, its the type with the white lining. You can use any type of can just make sure its super clean and dry before you put treaties in it...safety first! wrap the can with patterned paper, add strips of coordinating card stock smaller strips tend to work best due to the heaviness of card stock. Embellish with any number of accessories.
I chose punched flowers topped with black buttons & rhinestones attached with glue dots { those little suckers are time savers} The glitter strip, is sticky strip with Martha Stewart tourmaline glitter..it looks just like rose red.I can't wait to ship this off in my mom and dads Easter care package they will be thrilled to get a can of black beans...that is if I can stay out of them Yummy!
Stamp sets: Always, Yummy by Stampin'Up!
paper: artichoke, rose red, SU. Bohemia, my minds eye

Tropical Treat

I Really do have the best time stamping! This little bag is my new favorite thing!{until my next favorite thing!} Do you remember this stamp set? Its called tickled pink from stampin'Up! 2002 The "a little something" is from the sale-a-bration set yummy, Im sure I will use this set a ton.
I enjoy giving little treats and gifts, Ok enjoy is maybe to mild...I look for reasons to shower my loved ones with goodies! That is probably why I'm known as the party favor queen, I live to create invitations, and matching favors. If you need help with yours email me.. I will help!

I filled this bag with hehe tropical life savers. Cute huh? I found this pattern on todays TLC211 challenge on SCS. I knew right away I wanted to do a flamingo, and of course what DSP did I choose? Pink flamingo what else. As you can see these are BIG gromments they are used for fabric projects but don't let that stop you from trying them.
I sponged the edges of my cardstock with pink, and summer sun for my words. This is so adorable I want to make a dozen of them. Maybe I should have a party :) oohh and serve mojitos. Ok I always decorate my twist ties, it is the crowning touch to any goodie bag. Its all in the details and this little bag is the total package.
