Happy Halloween!

Happy, Spooky, Scary, candy coated Halloween to you! I have a quick post for you today of a scrapbook layout I did with my class last month. We get together once a month on Friday nights and play with paper, eat chocolate, and giggle :) This adorable not so scary Frankenstein was inspired by a project made by Shannon, and her fabulous card can be seen here on splitcoast This is my 12x12 page. My Frankie looks sleepy :) he must need a nap after all that stomping through the village & scaring the locals!! Simone Connerly made hers spiderific! I love the grimace she made for her "Frank"

Laura Hirst is always a hoot, "smell my feet" is the most perfect title for a monster page dontcha' think?

I hope you all have a safe and fun Halloween, take lots of photos and capture the moments you treasure most! And "grunt" from Frankie!!

There's More to Life Than Chocolate?

Well its Wednesday again {already} and that means its time for the weekly "be inspired" challenge at cuttlebug challenge blog. This week we are working with stamps from our generous sponsor My favorite Things. I Love the sentiment that comes with this little set, { even if I did stamp it a wee bit crooked} I mean really if you have ever read my blog you know that I have a piece of chocolate every day! I have got to have my chocolaty goodness!! :)

Halloween Is Creeping Up

I could not pass up the chance to make a Halloween card for todays color challenge at splitcoast stampers {kraft, melon mambo, and black} I knew right away I wanted to use this image from my brand spankin' new stamp set "from the crypt. This card also works perfectly for the challenge at OCC this week to make a project inspired by one of your favorite holiday movies or books. My daughter Meagan loves the movie Van Helsing so this card is for her, every year I give the girls a little gift for Halloween, they of course have to say "trick or treat" first, she is 21 so maybe a wee bit too old for my silly game but I know she will play along ....after all who doesn't want a treat!!

This card is 5" square, with a layer of ghostly greetings DSP, the kraft pinking circle was cut with a nestabilities die, and a circle of melon mambo, stitched in an overlapping circle. I embossed the image and sentiment [web wishes] with black EP

I Love Chocolate

OK so that's an obvious statement for most women!
That also makes this the perfect all occasion card for any girl in your life! I will be making a set of these as a gift...I may even pop a chocolate or two into the gift box! This card was made for today's clean and simple challenge at splitcoaststampers, to use brads or eyelets on your card. I don't always get a clean and simple card right {I'm a "more is more" kind of girl} but this one turned out really cute! Wouldn't it be fun to have a side by side comparison one clean and one over the top card with the same stamps and layout!

I added a teensy weensy bit of crystal effects to make my chocolate "glossy" and lets face it this is the only 'calorie free' chocolate we are going to find this Halloween! I'm so bad!! "its one for the trick or treater and one for me" :)

The Glittering Leaves of Fall

Good Wednesday to you all, I have a gorgeous fall project to share with you today that I made for Cuttlebug challenge blog be inspired challenge. I love the colors of fall, the earthy shades of rust, marigold, and greens, and I also love the addition of dark turquoise hues.its a punch of unexpected color that draws the eye in. I hope you can really see it in the photos that this framed "ode to fall" is spritzed with the new Stampin'Up Champagne mist shimmer paint. The effect is stunning, it just sparkles so beautifully, without being too overly glittery { although I love glitter } and have stockpiled every color of glitter imaginable in the event there is ever a shortage I will be safe *wink*
You can see even if its only slightly the sparkle this leaf has in the light.
If you want to make a fall frame of your own you will need:
Divine swirls embossing folder, paper crimper
card stock:
chocolate chip, old olive, more mustard, creamy caramel, soft suede, tempting turquoise, kraft, really rust
sanded background stamp, sentiment stamp, die cut letters or stickers, leaf dies, button, and hemp twine, brads.
and most importantly champagne mist shimmer paint (a few drops in a spray bottle of alcohol)
Have fun!
Don't forget to check out all the unbelievable fall projects the rest of DT has made for you.

Halloween By Definition

What does Halloween mean to you? Are you looking forward to costumed children knocking on your door with all manor of candy collecting containers, from pillowcases to plastic pumpkins,  Shyly squeeking out a "trick or treat" ? Or maybe is it the excuse to dress up yourself and relive those wonderful childhood memories of picking the perfect costume?

Whatever your favorite thing is about Halloween one thing is for sure and that is,  it makes me smile! I was not allowed to trick or treat as a child {sad} but now that Im all grown up, I celebrate this fall tradition all month long, It is my husbands favorite holiday!
This stamp set from Stampin'Up! called Eat Drink and be Scary is one of my favorites because of the sentiment "you make me smile" what is more smile evoking than a toothy Jack-o-lantern? Or as my youngest called them as a baby "gunky" that was code word for pumpkin! Let me know what you love most about Halloween.

to brew up this card you will need:
bascic black, kraft, whisper white card stock
razzleberry lemonade DSP, Black, and Only orange classic ink
scallop border punch, circle cutter, scallop circle die, felt flowers, clear button, linen thread, dimensionals, Old Olive striped ribbon, old olive chalk and dauber, and paper piercer.
All Stampin'Up!

Monsterious creations!

Have you ever been browsing through a store and spotted something that just HAS to be turned into a card, or  an altered item?? Well that happens to me from time to time, {OK a lot}  my hubby would probably tell you its because my head is always in the creative clouds :)

This adorable monster was adapted from a placemat I found while doing a little Halloween shopping last week. He was super quick and easy!  The placemat has several monsters...I plan on recreating them all.

This is the original, isn't he adorable??
I need a name for this little guy, and Im taking suggestions!! Leave me a comment with your vote for a name!

This is a closeup of his texture. I used the tiny bubbles embossing folder on Kiwi kiss paper, and sponged the edges with going gray. His teeth are the Srampin'Up! scallop border punch cut very thin and curved into a creepyrific smile! Those funny eyebrows are the word window punch, put back through to cut smaller.

This is everthing you will need to make one of your own!
Dont forget to vote for a monsterious name...I will announce the winner on Friday!!

Spooktacular! Cuttlebug Be Inspired 52, Fall !

Can you believe its October already?? I have been in Birthday mode for a month, but I have been gearing up for the fall holidays {if only in my mind} *wink* Im sure Im not the only one that has lots of fun ideas and "plans" to do it all...only to discover that you have run out of time!!  Not this year!!

This week at cuttlebug challenge blog we are getting a headstart on the fall season, with the help of digital delights, they provided the team with fall themed digital  images to work with. Im so feeling the Halloween "mojo" !!
Oh you might want to know about card huh??   :D
This is a 51/2 square card, embossed with the bird call folder { the bird is covered by the designer paper} and sanded to reveal the color core of the core'dinations paper. The top half is covered with bat patterned  paper and is distressed, then stitched. the fence is a Stampin'Up! wheel  and embossed with glaze for a spooky look. I used a craft knife to cut out the spaces between the posts. The moon was sponged with saffron, summer sun, and pumpkin pie classic ink, and in a moment of bravery ...stitched I was "scared" it would be crooked but hey it came out OK!!

This Dracula is too cute to be spooky! I colored him 4 times and cut and layered him, I even added crystal effects to his timepiece to look like glass.
I have been inspired to go exploring through the storage shed and fill the house with Pumpkins, and ghosts!
I bet the whole Design Team has been bitten by the fall 'bug" too, please be sure to visit them and see all the inspiration they have for you!

Putting it All Together Brookes Pinkalicious Birthday

The Magical Pinkalicious Birthday party was fun and beautiful, and like so many Birthday parties.... had a few pink speed bumps along the way! I will tell you all the hours stamping and cutting and glueing pom poms on cupcakes, was so worth it when I walked in the door and she came running "Aunt Shantaie Thank you so much"    {awwww} so sweet!
It seems more like 400 years rather that the 4 short years it has been, that she came into this world far too soon and far too small. Its such a victory and a miracle that we are celebrating the day she was born! I have forever been changed by the journey of my friend, and her daughter will always own a piece of my heart.

This favorite book features a fondness for pink cupcakes! Of course the party had to have a big pink cupcake as well! I was still decorating the cake as guests were arriving... no one seemed to mind :) they were just so darned happy to see the cupcake from the story come to life...and they got to EAT it {yummy}

We had so much fun trying to get everyone to look at the camera and "pose" with their party hats on, well that was just about as easy as saying pinkalicious is delicious 3 times short it couldnt be done *sigh*

Look at the little guy being so good and come on girls, lets do this :)

Well I have to say he is a doll in that towering party hat!!

I think she is a "pinkaholic" in the making! If I decide to go into the party hat business these two can definately model for me..they look so happy!!

I made these cookies for the party...check out that royal icing cupcake on the cookie ...hey I'm getting pretty OK at the cookie decorating if I do say so myself. I only had one cookie, but I sure do wish I had stashed some at home I have a sweet tooth the size of Montana right now *wink*

The party blowers were a HUGE hit..much to the dismay of the grown ups LOL it was a noisy afair to say the least. That is until Aunt "Bar Bar" invented a song for them to toot to...she is my hero!!

The candle goes out and smoke curls in the air, and her wish? To jump out of that chair and rip open presents! Oh the pile of pink boxes and bags were calling her name, it was such a joy for me to watch her eyes light up each time the gift was unwrapped...then on to the next!

thanks for taking the "pinkalicious" trip with me all throughout the month of September, if you missed anything check these posts:
Have a great day, and enjoy your creative journey! Thanks for visiting, come back soon, and let me know what you think.

Happy World Card Making Day!

Im so happy to share my card for "world card making day" with you! I love this card because it Incorporates two of my great passions Paper and fabric. We all too often dismiss the idea of using textiles in our paper crafting projects, fabric is a soft texture and is easy to work with. On this card I have used a fabric tag and sewn it to one side , the combonation of embossed paper and faric has a visual and tactile apeal that is hard to resist. Dont fret if you dont have a sewing machine, you can hand stitch fabric in place or  use adhesive.
World card making day is a wonderful opportunity to share your love of creating by inviting those around you make a card with you, or sending your handmade card to someone to show them you care. i know i would love to get a special card in my mailbox {hint} rather than the usual bills and junk mail :)
To see the tutorial for this card and my team mates  Betty and Terries fabulous cards visit cuttlebug challenge blog, and have a wonderful card making day!! I'm so happy you stopped by, I hope you visit again.

More Pink Please!!

I have been at it again! its a good thing the party is this Saturday I'm not entirely sure I would {or could} ever stop making cute stuff for this  Pinkalicious party :)  I paper pieced the above cupcake and attached it to an existing honeycomb it was not an old one I actualy bought a new one and lopped off the top so I could create this custom one...I told you I have "pinkatitis" It was a small sacrafice.

I made these fun candy treats with a few simple materials, printed cellophane, tape, curling ribbon and "fun fringe"  they are filled with pink malted milk balls *too stinkin cute* but Im not crazy about the flavor. Hey I had to try a few while I was working.... sweet things are my number 1 weakness. After coach purses, oooh and stamps.

They kind of look like a giant wrapped candy don't they? I will be taking a bazillion pics at the party so you will be able to see the whole shabang put together and in action.

The crowning touch of the party is a party hat of course! these are super tall, and dripping in cupcake cuteness. Brooke already spotted these in her mommys' hiding spot...lets just say she likes them A LOT.
Oh how I miss having a four year old. well come to think of is pretty nice to not have peanut butter fingerprints on my french doors *wink* I think I will stick to teenage moodiness!

Thanks for visiting my little corner of creativity, Have a great day!
