Be Inspired 42 National Friendship Day

This week at Cuttlebug Challenge Blog we are celebrating national friendship day August 2 2009 by creating a special gate fold card. I used the gorgeous new Victoria embossing folder from cuttlebug. The DT received a wonderful assortment of paper from coredinations, and I just couldn't resist embossing the whitewash paper and giving it a light sanding to reveal the gorgeous blue core. For the flowers on my card I cut out circles of multiple colors and hand cut the stems, and stitched them in place. the leaves are the sizzix sizlit die and the large "best friend" snap is from making memories. I chose to keep the closure of the card simple by adding a pretty organza ribbon tied in a knot.
Take a quick trip to cuttlebug challenge to see all the rest of the teams cards, you will be in for a treat!

Moroccan Screen Embossing Folder

Happy Monday everyone! I hope you had a great weekend, and had your "Wheaties" this morning because we are going global today :) what am I talking about??? The new embossing folder from cuttlebug **Moroccan screen** Its beyond beautiful! Are you ready to take a little visit.... to my craft room for a tutorial, Come on lets go {no luggage needed} Today I will show how to make this exotic looking gift box, faster than a trip to World Market!

I started by cutting out the scalloped edge gift bag from sizzix, it is a bigz XL die, so you will need 4 cutting plates to run it through the cuttlebug, 2 on top 2 on bottom butted up together, and slowly run it through.

Emboss all pieces with folder of your choice, then fold score lines. Assemble bag with strong adhesive.

I wanted the bag to have a more traditional Moroccan shape, so I hand cut the "flap", and trimmed off all the scallops.

Cut out a shape with your cuttlebug die for a window in your bag. with sticky strip adhere acetate or cellophane to inside of bag.

For the faux metal trim along the bottom of my bag I used another cuttlebug die and glued to the bag. Tie ribbon to top of bag for a closure, leaving flap in upright position. add sentiment, bead, and decorative button and done!!

This is the lamp that inspired my creation...pretty close huh?
Please be sure to check out my team member Jackies' tutorial today here at cuttlebug challenge blog, she has another brand new folder to show you!

The New Herringbone Folder is "just my style!!"

This week at cuttlebug challenge we are featuring the new herringbone embossing folder as part of our countdown to CHA, Maggie our fearless leader gave the DT this incredible sketch to work with.I hope you will play along with this weeks sketch challenge that is being sponsored by
2 red bananas ... you could win some goodies! I know you all like free goodies!!
I have had this stamp set from SU for a long time but this is the very first time it has ever seen ink. I stamped two dresses onto watercolor paper and used re inkers to color them , and used dimensionals to make the dress really "come alive" I was inspired by the gorgeous designer series paper that has the new in colors from SU, can you see how amazing it looks embossed with the herringbone folder and sanded lightly?? This sketch has SO many possibilities, that you can do virtually anything with it. I needed to dust off the nesties and put them to work as they were feeling neglected :) {shame on me}

I couldn't stop at a water colored dress I needed a purse too, if you are like me the MOST important item in my wardrobe is a handbag {or a dozen or 2}....what ? I don't have a problem I can stop anytime I want, I just like purses...A lot :0

I have several purse templates that I copied from Making memories, this was a labor of love and the embossed paper is so fantastic!!
Please take a trip over to CCB and check out what the DT has created for your eyes to behold, some truly amazing projects!!

Sugary Sweet Birthday wishes!

Sugar and spice and ever thing nice, that's' what little girls are made of ...or at least their first Birthdays are! Precious little Emily is going to be One and her party will be a confection like no other...the eye candy alone will necessitate a toothbrush :) One of my fellow SU demonstrators taught a group of us to make these adorable fans, I knew they would be the perfect little party favor for a July Birthday in Florida! They are quite easy to make, you will need a 12x6 piece of designer paper and score at every inch, use adhesive at top then attach to two very large Popsicle sticks and open use a rubber band or ribbon to keep in open position. I added large chipboard "sweets" to the center.
Her Invitations are a variation of a tag I made a while ago to see the original you can go to this post
Or you can see a blue version here that would work for a boy.I hope you enjoyed your little peek into this yummy party!

Cuttlebug Challenge 38 Woodland Creatures

This weeks challenge at cuttlebug challenge blog is "woodland creatures" the use of only orange, tempting turquoise, and green galore is also part of our super fun challenge, but that's not the end of this triple throw down ..........we were NOT to use the traditional scrap booking embellishments, and try to use natural elements!!! I took a trek into the woods and gathered a sampling of tree bark, and proceeded to create a tree with a cuttlebug flower die . I just kept layering and layering the flowers to make this fun treetop.
The real bark certainly is better than any old store bought embellishment...although I must say I do so LOVE all my precious "embellies" and I wont stray for long I can promise you that!! :)

** Peek-a-boo bunny!** In the center of this stair step card is a sweet little bunny waiting to be discovered, ready to delight the recipient of this card.

Of course the most important part of this card is the soon to be released fabulous flourish owl embossing folder from cuttlebug {provocraft}. as part of our countdown to CHA we are showcasing all of the wonderful NEW cuttlebug folders, the only place to see them in action and WIN them before you can buy them is...cuttlebug challenge blog you can also see the rest of the design teams take on this challenge.

If you are looking for Americana inspiration than believe me you will find it! This is a unique project you can whip up in any theme you can imagine, how fun would it be for "over the hill"???

Bermuda Bay A2 Card Box

I'm having a ton of fun playing with the new Stampin'Up! in colors. Its always an adventure finding color combinations that work, I stumble my way around the papers until I like something. In this case I wanted to team up the Bermuda Bay and Basic Black...Summer Sun looks so pretty with this duo. I used the Pink flamingo designer series paper on this box, because it so bold and happy! It was gloomy and rainy all day yesterday I needed some "happy" :) This week for Stamps and Smiles Project Tuesday the assignment is to make an A2 box, that's code lingo for a box that standard size 41/4x51/2 cards will fit into. she has step by step instructions, and fantastic samples for you so go check it out and play along {its fun} The border of the lid was decorated with the eyelet border punch, and a strip of summer sun,
The flower was made with the sizzix flower layers 3, sponged with crushed curry and crumpled, and holes punched with the cropodile, then layered and a corduroy brad in summer sun placed in the center

I used the mat pack to line up the edges and pierce along both long strips, and to apply the white gel pen dots on the black.
